    Yeah, that was me. Those problems (and breaking the clutch cover) caused me to re-appraise and rebuild the ignition. I found multiple issues (grounding points) that were leaching power as well as the coil was toast, i.e. over-impedence. So, hopefully I'll be able to test run the bike tomorrow, and see what the throttle response is. If after all I've done, the bike is still crap bogging down low, I'll look into replacing the intake and/or the carb.

    others have run this exact intake with no issues, in fact, they get major power from it, so I'm going to give it one more try.

    I still suck at starting the monster, but I never was any good at it. any suggestions are appreciated. others can start the bike instantly, so it's got to be technique.

    Try just rotating the engine until you feel compression, then go about an 1/8 of a kick more, let the kicker come back up to the top, then jump on it like you mean it, a little blip of throttle as you kick through shouldn't flood a twin with a single carb...it'll give you a little fuel to play with on the next kick.

    yeah, XS's kick ass.

    No new pics today, working too much (no days off in two weeks)

    but, an update.

    last sunday, at my bud's house, after finishing the last bits of wiring, I couldn't kick her to start to save my life, none of my kick only bud's could either, so I said;

    " hey Ryan, I'm gonna pull your (stock) carbs off your (non-registered, and thus not ridable but perfectly good) XS to test if the carbs are the issue." (note I didn't 'ask') he said; "sure." I swap stock mikunis on. bike starts first kick......
    So I tell him I'll buy him new carbs, he says just give em back when I get my own replacements, then lets me use his throttle cable also.

    Some people. :):clap:freaky

    since then I've been riding her to work, (at 3 am) and today, the headlight decided to poop. Not untill I was halfway to work, of course. I rode dirty the rest of the way, and the one cop I saw just waved me on when I motioned to him that I knew my headlight was out. (amazing).

    Now I've got a tractor headlight, UNI pod filters. and the bitch starts between the second and third kick, I haven't quite dialed in how much throttle she needs (sometimes a bit, sometimes none)

    New carbs (stock mikunis) are on their way, hopefully this week.

    yay!

    new pics this week I hope?

    Well, a crappy update.

    I bought a set of bs34 carbs, swapped them on the bike and it ran.

    running a bit lean on the left side, I kept adjusting the air/fuel mixture to try to enrichen it (145 45 jets btw) ordered a new set of sweet pipes, and then last sat,

    BOOM! sputter, sputter, sputter.
    pulled the motor, new pipes came in the next day. :(

    oil filter looks like this;

    finally got the top end opened up sat....

    soon as it stops raining, I'll start on the bottom, gotta check everything.
    if it wasn't for bad luck.....
