Also got these two currently residing in the local motorcycle museum:
Your collection is really something to behold. I strongly suspect that it takes more than just good fortune to amass a collection like that...probably a lotta' patience and hard work.
Anyhow, it's a GREAT collection. You should be proud of your efforts...
That 490 is dreamy.
I'm a little partial to the sweet Ducati single by the window.
Thanks HOT DAMN! It's all original.
Had the 950 since new in 2007 and can't imagine ever letting it go. Had the Husky for a few months and selling it already! Partly due to personal circumstances and partly due to the extreme difficulty in getting spares and extreme prices of said spares. You thought KTM parts were spendy?! It does ride very nicely though. I expect I will get a KTM 400 exc in due course.
Thanks for the kind words WARRIORPRINCEJJ.
Your assumption is correct. It was more work than good fortune.
I forgot to say, they are all big bores.
Also got these in the works. Two `81 GS 490's and a `80 GS 440:
Since you like those, you'll like these. All sold fairly recently:
Is this a braggin' thread or a truth-or-consequences deal?
I happen to like my KLR. Paid $1500 w/3,000 no dirt/no rain miles in 1991, heated & carpeted garage even
Over 168,000 miles now, been everywhere, done just about everything with her. Just one problem- sucks (bad kinda of sucking) on the modern highways. Needed another cylinder (and some more modern suspension/geometry) so I got the 950 for that... relegated to Mountain Goat status, she hardly gets ridden anymore, and when it happens it's in the stuff I oughta be using a trials bike to ride through.
here sporting multiple-bikes bodywork and some fresh D606's we're off to crawl the creeks at night. Works better that way, you don't see the stuff that usually scares you away from trying it
all those miles together with those few dollars, I must be the posterchild for "Cheap KLR650 Owners"
You are a bit twisted. Having a Klr AND a 950 ..... Talk about Extremes
No my KTM 990 stable mate doesn't suck, actually it blows.
It's a 2002 CBR1100XX Turbo
My 990's stablemates are 2 old faithful's ... 2001 300EXC and my 2007 Ski-Doo Summit 800XRS which I converted to a KTM color scheme after having a run-in with a tree, whilst climbing a mountain! Neither sucks though, since they do everything I need or want them to do, just like the big bike does!
Stablemate of my 990 Adventure:
Oh yeah, Mr. Qwik?
Well, my KLR's stablemates suck...
It doesn't suck but it does burn a bit of oil, might go with the 570 big bore kit to fix it .
Some people think Orange and Red clash, but I think those colors compliment each other nicely.
This is my Orange bike. I ride it whenever I can.
This is my Red bike. I ride it the rest of the time.... if you know what I mean.
Thanks for the "opportunity" to respond. Oh yeah, do I know what you mean!
But question raised by the OP remains: Does your KTM stablemate suck?
As one who has observed your "Red bike" in the mirrors of my "Orange bike", I am (unfortunately) in the (lead) position to know:
Yes, your Red bike sucks.
GIGGITY! Nice combo and no suckage there! SnoHawks are badazz!
Thanks for the compliment, but I think we both know it's not the bike, that sucks.
