Donnie's 1996 GS 1100 sitting in his driveway in Mississippi the day we came over to pick it up.
You can also see his yellow Goldwing in the garage that had just turned 250k miles.

And us on our first ride around Donnie's and our old hometown in North Mississippi on Donnie's new to us GS.

Rest in Peace Donnie. Your old GS will be treasured and respected for years to come.
We will really miss you brother! R and MJ

So sad. I followed them a bit and I remember Donnie helping you and many others with advice and such. Sorry for your loss.

Good Lord man, may they rest in peace, prayers for the family. That's totally fucked.

I didn't even know he had a thread, but i found it here, sent here by goodcat.

I originally posted this on his thread with a link to this thread for other people who didn't know, and was going to write another one in here, but someone thought it would be a better idea to move this post from there to here. Anyway, words can't convey how horrifying this is. They are with the Lord, and may the Lord be with their families and friends to give them comfort.

Also, does anyone know if he had MedJet Assist or a comparable policy (I am sure he did). This insurance will handle the repatriation of remains.

We actually have Geos Medevac which is the same company as the SPOT S&R insurance. I know Donnie had a spot device....it was recently lost. So that may be the policy he has as well.

Honduras does not require auto/moto insurance, I hope he had some thing else.

Have they contact US Embassy in Honduras? I think they may help to bring the bodies to the US.

I posted this over in the IMS thread, but for those who don't get over there, here's Donnie at our house with his KTM.

For those that haven't met him, I will tell you he was one of the planet's best conversationalists. Just plain interesting to talk to. And he knew the art of conversation. I mean, he was engaging. You don't hear that about people much anymore. He had a depth of soul, is the best way I can describe it. One of a kind.

Just got word of this tragedy morning...a very sad day. We spent time with Donnie in Chiapas, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Panama. He was an excellent rider with a vast knowledge of all things adventure bikes that he was happy to share and mentor those of us that were infinity less experienced. We shared the experience of both getting blown off our bikes (with our pillions) by 60 mph + winds in Panama and a kayak marathon in Nicaragua. Donnie was in his element in 3rd world and I have never met a more experienced motorcyclist.

Don't forget to breath....this is very sad news.

Kinda at a loss of words to hear about this. It's not the kind of news one wants to hear first thing into the day....just numbing. I met and rode with Donnie in 2006 when we attended a local ride event. Then again in 2008. He was quite an interesting person that had a great love of riding and exploring. We had occasional contacts between us over the past few years but the last time I saw him was when he delivered his KLX 250 to me in 2013. We went out for dinner that afternoon then he stayed the night with us before heading to Florida to pickup a trailer that he had bought. At this time he was in the process of selling pretty much all of his personal belongings so he could begin his newest adventure of living in Mexico. I very much enjoyed following Donnie's ride reports and will really miss occasionally hearing from him.

RIP Donnie...very glad that our lives briefly crossed paths.
