This is quite the shocking news. I have followed Donnie's rides ever since I joined, I have even read I think all of his past rides that are in his profile. I have never met him, only conversed a few times on here, mainly when he had lost his wife. Donnie was living the life that most of us will only dream of. Prayers for his Modesta's family and all that are affected by his passing.

God bless Donnie and Modesta. Went to Copper Canyon and Mazatlan twice with Donnie. I was on my Dr650 and Donnie on his old KLR. I'll never forget the motel we got near Urique for a hundred pesos one night. Next morning the guy in the next room came out of his room and saddled up his horse and took off. We laughed together..$7.50 for a room with 2 camas and hot water and we split the cost.....$3.25. Awe Mexico. He lost his first wife Sheryl to an accident on his goldwing pulling a bunkhouse trailer. Mary and I wish all the best for Donnies daughter and grandaughter.

It has been several years since I have ridden with Donnie at our KLR rallies. He was fun to hang out with and share stories. Thinking of their families......

Just got off the phone with Donnie's brother; Bill. What appears to have happened is the truck was coming off a hill and lost control, after it got on the flats, then it appears it rolled and went into Donnie's lane. Mode passed away at the scene, Donnie passed away at around 5 P.M. at the hospital. Missionary's heard if the accident and rushed to the hospital, they were present when Donnie passed.

The driver does not have insurance. There is an investigation started, the prosecuting attorney is holding on to the motorcycle as evidence. Donnie had contingencies in place for situations like this. His body will be flown directly to Mississippi sometime this week. Modesta's will be flown to Mexico sometime next week......Godspeed

I will update when there is more info.

From one of Donnie's very last posts; just hours before their accident: (touching)

Hello! Today our day was very good, we got up early, we went down to breakfast at the hotel/restaurant, so we could continue with our way to Copan. Thank God all the way was very good, with a nice view of lakes, forest and many small towns on the edge of the road. Some roads were being repaired, but it was very well all the way to Copan. Arriving after a while to the town we found a hotel. We changed clothes and went to the ruins of Copan. There are so many archaeological wonders of the Mayans, your mind begins to imagine how they lived. Then you see some beautiful macaws of beautiful colors inside the park. It was a day with a beautiful and magical adventure .. Thank God for allowing us to live another adventure!

Donnie's sister messaged me just now. They are planning on having him back in Mississippi on Wednesday and the funeral will be Thursday or Friday. Arrangements will be made Monday.
