Hahaha. If I remember correctly from a private conversation we were having, Tikal is his favorite!

Today we will be finding a hotel closer to Tikal and then going to the ruins.

We rode in the worse conditions we have ridden the African Twin and it performed very well with the TKC70s!

Hello!! Today to go to Tikal is to transport you to another world full of magic and a lot of history! To enter Tikal is also to be in the jungle where you hear the sound of birds of different type, spider monkeys and jaguars, then you walk and arrive to the pyramids temples of the Maya! My mind began to imagine how the Mayans lived and how they did all these wonders. It is something that many of us are reminded that at that time there were no machines or anything to load all those stones and the measures to place them well. That's why they are wonders of the world .... I am very happy to see Tikal! I have something new in my mind and want to learn some more history !!

This is a Copy & Paste from last year's report.

    Hi!

I am writing this from Flores, Guatemala. Looking at our travels for 2017, we ended up traveling 46% of the time. That travel time includes 79 days traveling in Mexico, 89 days traveling in the USA, and 2 days traveling south of Mexico. Those two days being part of the trip we are currently on. Modesta and I were together for all of the traveling, except for one 16 day trip to the USA that occurred before she had her Visa.

I expect that we will be on the road more this year. The only big break in traveling will be a ten week period encompassing when, Itzayane will give birth to Modesta's first blood grandchild.

    Donnie and Modesta

Edit: Not all of our travel was on the moto, we did some of the trips by car. Total mileage for the moto last year was 22,002 miles, most of which was traveling because we ride very little locally.

    ¡Hola!

Hey Donnie, it's funny, on Saturday you were still "behind" us, in Mexico, and today you are where we'll be in around 2 weeks :)

I saw you skipped Belize pretty fast, which is no surprise seeing the prices there (we booked 2 days in Belize City and 2 in San Ignacio but I fear they will be boring... maybe at least some time for working a bit). We also plan to stop in Flores when we get in Guatemala, then go to Tikal the next day and back to Flores again for the night.

Are the muddy roads between Flores and Tikal? Did you get an escort to Tikal (as recommended on gov sites) or did it feel realtively safe?

We'll be in Antigua between the 17th of January and the 19th of February, are you planning to stay there a bit or just continue south? (accommodations in Antigua are pretty expensive too, compared to e.g. Guatemala City)
