They keep telling me they aren't going to make them. Which, in my opinion, doesn't mean they aren't going to make them, it means they haven't yet.

    I'll keep checking...

Spud rider- interested to hear the results!

If you really want to employ the Ram Tough Balls, you can use them right now, provided you don't mind adding 20mm to the length of the mount from the mirror perch. :deal

The RAM Tough Balls are currently offered with an 8mm thread.

Buy a pair of Emgo Universal Mirror Adapters, part #20-28109. You can buy a single adapter on eBay for $5.25, delivered. :deal

You can also get a single Emgo adapter for $2.06 from Powersport Superstore. :deal

Install the Emgo adadpter in your clutch perch. Then screw the 8mm, RAM Tough Ball into the Emgo Adapter. :deal

Sorry for the pun, but what's the advantage of these tough balls?

I quote from the RAM website.

    http://www.rammount.com/CatalogResu...51055057085045077056049050048056/Default.aspx

"Introducing the new RAM Tough-Ball™. Why call it tough? Because this latest addition to the RAM product line has steel inside and out."

The standard RAM ball is made of aluminum. The RAM Tough Ball also has a hex nut on the base, which makes it easier to securely tighten, and loosen the Tough Ball. :deal

I was wondering why the ram balls did not have a hex at the base...it seemed like such a no-brainer.

The original RAM balls are soft and tend to take a set after being left in the same position. This makes it a bit tough to adjust as the ball is deformed a little and the mirror arm wants to return to the same position.

I see the new balls have a screw that is M8X1.25....does that match the BMW thread?

...dang the universe is evil...I see BMW uses M10X1.5

    BMW is 10mm x 1.5.

I'll try to get my hands on a toughball in M8 and do some tests, I agree with Motoriley that it could be promising.

The Emgo "Universal" Mirror Adapters employ M10-1.25 and M8-1.25 threads. These adapters sell for $2.50 apiece at Motorcycle Superstore. :deal

    http://www.motorcycle-superstore.co...px?SiteID=SLI|Universal Mirror&WT.MC_ID=10010

Most motorcycle mirror mounts employ the M10-1.25 thread. However, it appears BMW bikes are an exception. :rolleyes

For most motorcycles, using the 10mm male to 8mm female adapter will allow the installation of the 8mm, RAM Tough Ball, part #RAP-B-379U-M81208

    http://www.rammount.com/CatalogResu...51055057085045077056049050048056/Default.aspx

The Emgo "Universal" Mirror Adapters are available in either black, or chrome finish. Install the Emgo adadpter in your clutch perch. Then screw the 8mm, RAM Tough Ball into the Emgo Adapter. :deal

Removing the reflector turned out to be easier than I thought! The middle is a good starting point as there is a cavity behind the glass, I was able to punch in the centre and work my way out from there in a matter of minutes using a 2 1/2" long wood screw. :clap

Every problem contains an opportunity. At least, I hope it does. :deal

With that in mind, WE ARE BACKORDERED!

We got a bad batch of glass (bubbles), and rather than make mirrors that are not up to our standards, we reordered new glass. Demand was faster than our supplier... we should have new glass in on 2/28 and will fill all orders immediately once it arrives. Your card will not be charged until the order ships.

To compensate, we are holding our first ever sale. If you order during the backorder period, use this code for a 10% discount (hopefully this rewards your patience for delivery!).

    2020HINDSIGHT

Enter the code on the next page during checkout, and it will be applied to your order.

The fine print: We can't retroactively apply the code to an order, and we can't 100% guarantee 2/28 for a ship date (it will be close to that, hopefully before, maybe a few days later).

Thank you for the discount. I couldn't figure out how to make the code work with paypal - worked fine with credit card payment (just an FYI for others).

Glass came in, but our web guru is on a plane to the Tuareg... so the discount will stand for another day or so until GSNorCal can take it down. Orders will be going out Monday.

Sorry for the slow response, as Jim said I was a bit busy!

Adv access was limited to my phone on a dodgy connection. Yes, as indicated above, everything came in, normal service was resumed, and the attendant discount removed.
