I figured Moody would get some sick air and I wanted to be close to catch it. He choked!

Well May has finally arrived and time for the long awaited first annual V-Strom-a-thon! Hosted by my good friend Timbercat in scenic Llano Texas, we camped for next to nothing along the beautiful Llano River. All bikes are welcome but a huge amount of V-Stroms arrived starting on Thursday evening.

Timbercat arrives, let the fun begin!

I elected to lead a mostly dirt route and set out towards Mason and the awesome red dirt of Mason and San Saba counties.

I can't count the times I've seen DL1000 chain guards come loose, three on mine alone!

After lunch in Mason it was off to true adventure with the James River Road and James River crossing!

Duane was the first "victim" on the lightest bike. We sent him out on recon. At least he got a free bike wash!

    <IFRAME height=315 src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Jzbosk9dWog" frameBorder=0 width=560 allowfullscreen></IFRAME>

I've crossed it several times but found it challenging to say the least, so this time I tried a "creative" line to no avail. Oh, by the way, it's extremely slippery!

Next up was AdventureDallas who elected to utilize the team approach and safely cross. A wise man.

Lastly Josh chose to gas it up the middle single-handedly. He schooled us all!

On day two we headed east towards Click and a more wooded landscape. First stop Oxford.

Off to Harry's on the Loop for lunch, a well known biker hangout on the Willow City Loop in the middle of nowhere.

On our way to Castell it heated up greatly so finding a shady break stop was difficult.

We were so tempted to stop here and jump in but the group photo shoot and closing ceremonies were at hand.

Everyone gathered on the banks of the Llano for the festivities.

Tip'o the hat to these chaps, Mr2mch (Rod) and Timbercat (Lee) for the effort. See you at V-Strom-a-thon 2!

Wow! Where has time gone? A new job this summer has killed my motorcycle adventures but hopefully that will end soon with a new work schedule. I did manage to get out a month ago and let the DRZ mangle me quite well. Remember kiddo's, distracted driving kills!

I had just refueled and was attempting to reset the overly complicated odometer when I drifted over against a curb and fell. At least it was on grass. Couple scratches on the plastic is all but pulled shoulder ligaments and cracked some riblets. Oh well, soldier on! After three weeks to the day I couldn't resist an opportunity to ride. I should have waited, not enough strength in shoulder yet.

No harm done but decided to stick with light street riding for awhile. I went to Manor for an awesome vintage motorcycle show hosted by Austin's Roadrunners. The weather has finally broken here in Tejas and the triple digits are gone. Lots of events happening!

The Good Luck Grill hosted the event. What an awesome venue.

So many sweet rides. A Ducati rickshaw, a Morgan with a J.A.P. motor, Yamaha XS650 tracker not to mention the Vincents!

Street riding is not so bad, but I prefer gravel travel! Stay tuned!

Dang, I didn't know about the bike show and I'm really sorry that I missed it! I used to go to their show many years ago when it was at Ski Shores. Thanks for the photos. :clap

Well maybe not so much anymore. Recent budget cuts have finally affected our area lakes and the Army Corps of Engineers land and parks around them. About three quarters of them are now closed from 1 October until 1 March. Unbelievable. Texas weather for outdoor activities is virtually year round. I hope it's not illegal to take photographs anymore! Well we still have a couple jewels available and I took advantage of a recent rain to visit one and play in the mud a bit.
