DR 650 rear shock removal.

    The new Cogent rear shock was on the porch when I got home.
    Any tips on removing the stock shock and installing the new one?

    Remove the seat, side covers and air box.

    Yes, I also have the DDC solution kit from Procycle.

    I took a few extra items off but not needed. Just made moving around everything easier.

    Maybe a little late now but I removed the shock on my DR by taking the swingarm bolt out,moving the arm back and dropping the shock out the bottom,I think I unbolted and greased the shock linkage and it was pretty easy to get the shock out that way. Might be easier to remove the muffler as well which is easy to get off as well.

    I didnt want to take the airbox off.

    We figured out that the rubber boot can stay on the air box and still fit through the frame (better warm than cold), saving the frustration of refitting the thing back over the ab lip. Customers report that exhaust removal works. If you are lubing the swing arm pivot anyhow, tha sounds like a pretty awesome way to go.

    Finished the forks and rear shock yesterday, just in time to see the sun go down.
    I hate Daylight Savings.
    Hope to try the changes out this week.

    I don't know about installing a different shock, but I pulled and reinstalled the stocker by lifting the bike, removing the lower bolt and links, loosening the airbox by removing its mounting screws, removing the upper shock bolt, and wiggling the shock past the airbox, out the bottom of the frame. It went right back in the same way.

    I've had mine in and out a few times now by dropping it out the bottom. No need to remove or loosen anything other than the lower linkage.

    Yes, it's one of your shocks too.
    Probably should have been a bit clearer - still need to remove the seat to get to the top shock bolt, but I've not needed to remove or loosen air box/exh. Might be the smaller lower collar/clevis on your shock and my custom midpipe might be giving a little more clearance. Still using the stock header.
