Dave was the first guy to open his shop and know how to me when I got my bike. He's someone that I looked up to and was proud to call my friend. His heart was huge, his laugh was contagious and his kindness knew no limits. Dr.Cool aka Dave, is one of the greatest guys I had the honor to know, learn from and ride with. My heart, prayers and condolences go out to his family. He'll never be far from our hearts, minds or souls when riding and he'll always be remembered with any act of compassion and generosity as we all know, those are only a few of the words that could describe him. Ride In Peace Dave, and thank you

A few of us will be meeting at the shop at noon on Thursday and then heading over to the Funeral if anybody wants to meet here.

    Thanks

I will always remember his amazing laughter.

Walking past Dave after my first EOAR event. He smiled and said "Get into that keg at the fire pit and wash down all that dust."
Before I could answer. He said "Oh ya, take plenty of food with that prescription." That was followed with his thunderous, welcoming laughter.

I'm really kicking myself that I didn't make it to his Tuesday night shenanigans invitation.

Our condolences to his family and friends.

....I'm having trouble with this one...

...so I went back to my camp (the location of the NoFAR..)..created some quiet time....trying to make sense of it all...get my head on straight etc. etc.

Dave had left one of his goofy micro-brewery specialty beers in the fridge.

I put it away....saving it for him.... on his next trip through life.

    Ride on....

I never met Dr Cool and I don't even own a motorcycle yet but I wanted to say a few words as well. I have been toying with the idea of getting a bike since I was about 15 years old but never have. I always get close and then something scares me off. When I read this it really hit home, still a fairly young age, family and children, etc. It was about to become my reason again to forget about a motorcycle but then I kept on reading about his life and everyone's thoughts of him on this thread at the GTA riders thread. It's pretty clear that he lived life to the fullest and was an incredible man leaving behind a great legacy. He truly is an inspiration and has really hit home to me that there is more to life then being safe sitting at home on the couch. It is a reminder that life is short and it's all about how much living you do before your time comes. May you rest in peace Dr.Cool! You have certainly made the lives of everyone around you much better, and even I as a stranger can see that!

I just had the honour of talking with motoaxe about the funeral. As part of our conversation I offered to to a blessing of the bikes after the service.

If folks are in agreement, before we leave and ride off, we all gather on/at our bikes and I will ask for blessings on each and everyone of us, and our trusty steeds, to keep us safe for many more miles to come. Just a thought...

Here's a note I forgot to mention a few days ago....

I would like to thank Rick, aka Gadget Boy, for his decency during the last week.
He pruned all mentions of the accident from the pages of ADV, and removed Dave's original thread.

He also said that he would return Dave's original thread so that it could be finished IF, and only IF Maggie, Adam and Scott approved.

    This community really does care.

Agreed Robbie. Personally, I think that once everything is settled, the Whiskey and Iceberg thread should be reopened. It's part of his legacy. Needs unanimous agreement of course.

One of my favorite memories was by chance meeting Dave cruising along the QEW last summer. I don't think two minutes had passed after I had merged off the ramp when a GS came barreling up behind me. I knew who it was instantly! What are the chances we both said after stopping!
Funny day and we had only been riding up north the few days before that.

I only met Dr Cool a few times over the course of a few years. There is something so powerful about the comradery that is formed when we ride with other people, even for a short time.

I am so sorry to hear the sad news of the accident and his passing. My deepest sympathy to Dave's Family, and all the friends who are mourning as well.

God Bless You, Dave. Rest in Peace.
