    Its a dirt model, note the lack of a starter motor and presence of a kicker :)

    He may have gotten a plate for it though. Great deal too.

    Mine's a street model and it has a kicker with no electric starter.....as do other pre-1994 DR350S's.

    This one is a '98, with the updated forks.

    The add says 1998, no reason to think that's wrong, esp as its got forks that can't be older than 1997, the frame color was only used in later years, it lacks turn signal mounts on the rear fender support, etc. Unless someone has swapped a ton of parts around its a 97-99 dirt model.

    Newb question - when I do an oil and filter change on my DR is it better to warm the motor up before I drain it? That's what I do on my trucks but they have much more oil in them so I'm not sure if it matters on this bike, it's my first 4-stroke.

    Rack appears to require removal of grab rail but does not have turn signal mounts for street models. Also not quite certain if it bolts straight onto DR frame or onto the subframe underneath the fender (apart from one center bolt I don't care about).

    Well, I went ahead and ordered one anyway. $110 with shipping to Louisiana. Will fab something up for turn signal mounts and hope the rack bolts up to the frame. Sure it will be easy enough to get rid of if it doesn't work.

    Sorry for not detailing on this particular info.

    Yes, this rack requires the removal of the original grab rail, and it mounts directly to the bike's frame using the original grab rail holes.

    Also, you can already get the turn signal mounts as accesory, $15.95 pair. Go to: http://www.promotobillet.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/24_84. Other accesories you can get are: Bag-It Tool Pack, Cargo Straps, and Saw-It chain saw carrier plate.

    Sweet. I ordered one up also!

    I currently have my turn signals mounted next to the license plate using the license plate bolt holes/hardware, and a couple of little brackets like the PMB ones.

    Works well. I wouldn't necessarily mount signals on the rack as they would break when you fall.

    I was VERY happy with the PMB rack on my DRZ400 and am looking forward to having one on the 350. It's so pretty...

    Thanks for the tip on the rack. Seems like it will work nicely. For $16 I think I'll just fab my own signal mounts though.

    Done deal. Been thinking about fabbing up a luggage rack of some sort. This should work well to hold a duffle bag on top of side saddles, and look cool around town. Bungie cords, 12 pack of beer,....yup! Already have rear turn signals that will work with it.

    Need some opinions.

    I'm looking at two bikes, both '98s.

    One has serious starting problems, a larger tank, and an aftermarket seat, with 6800 miles, $1200.

    The other is completely stock, 4800 miles and supposedly runs well, $1600.

    The difference is $400 more for the stock one, but a bike with no issues.

    A used CDI unit has been ordered for the one with starting problems.

    I know you can't make the call for me, but just curious which you would choose with those parameters.

    "Serious" starting issues? As long as there are no funny mechanical noises it's probably fixable for much less than $400 and you get the seat and tank. Would be the obvious choice for me.

    My '99 wouldn't start at all when I bought it - had been sitting for two years. Cleaned the carb, put a new spark plug in it along with some fresh gas then put 5k trouble-free miles on it.
