Not sure this is the right place, but here goes. My 06 dr650 (I'm the 3rd owner) with Mukuni carb is leaking fuel or should I say it's coming out of the air box. It started up just fine and then after a few mins of idling started running rough and then died. And then the fuel started dripping out of the air box.

I don't know much about carbs, but would like to fix this myself so I'll learn something for next time.

If this is the wrong forum let me know.

Your vacuum actuated petcock has failed. Replace it with a manuel one from a Yamaha Raptor 660 quad. Also your float needle is probably worn out and is not seating properly which is allowing fuel from the failed petcock to flow into your airbox and possibly your engine. If you ride it with fuel diluting your oil you will trash your engine in no time. Fix the petcock and float needle then drain your oil and replace with fresh oil before you ride it! DO NOT RIDE IT UNTIL YOU CHANGE THE OIL!

Autozone has little packs of viton o-rings in assorted metric sizes that work for the float assembly. I think the package says "Help!" on it and we found it hanging on the back wall with other little Help! stuff. Be sure to get the metric pack. You'll see where they go when you pull the float assembly down out of the carb. The o-rings provide a seal so that the float assembly is a snug fit in the carb body otherwise fuel can leak down and flood the airbox.
