    Finally carved out a window to take a 45 minute ride yesterday on what will be our last sunny and dry day for a while. Between the newly installed Shinko 705's and the 35F0x can it made for an interesting ride.

    The 35F0x sounds better than stock but it is not exactly what I was expecting. That said, I don't know exactly what I was expecting, but what I got was not it. :huh

    Anyway, it's not unpleasant, just different. And thankfully it's not too loud. In fact, it is not as loud as a DG can that a friend had on his DR before he sold it. I didn't like the DG sound so I'm pleased the 35 is more mellow. It does have a bit of a burble and pop to it on deceleration.

    Do I need to re-jet after this? I"m running the factory carb and other than a drilled slide and a Jesse mixture screw it is stock. :ear

    Ok i got the 03-04 gsxr muffler all done up on my 94 DR650. It was tight but it fits and mounts up good with the stock gsxr mid-pipe although the mid-pipe does need a little love to fit over the header. Im not blown away by the muffler though it is a great upgrade over stock, and for the price you can't beat it.

    Do the over sized headers run any hotter than the stock. I read something a while back that someone was melting o-rings on an oil line. He thought it was from the aftermarket header? I picked up a GSXR muffler a while back and can't decide if I should get a bigger header pipe and the bigger midpipe.

    Since this is the thread about exhaust.

    Does the powerbomb add any torque to the DR:huh
    From all the research i've done.
    A smaller tube keeps exhaust gas velocity up initially
    (Im not talking about back pressure as back pressure does not in itself make torque)
    so this adds to the low end torque when revs are low.

    But the Powerbomb from looks is a larger diameter tube with an expansion chamber that supposedly aids in moving exhaust faster. Is there any truth to this?

    I mounted my 02 GSXR Muffler (40) with a Procycle mid pipe.
    Worked out great! As always with PC, the fit, finish and execution are awesome.

    At first it was lining up well but I loosened the header pipe bolts at the motor. At the header pipe to mid pipe frame mounted support, the rubber insert and metal collar stays in place.

    I also had some issues removing that alum. trim piece at the header to mid pipe connection. The bolts where frozen on there and they are small & soft allen sized that will strip easily. At first I used my hand hammered impact tool with an socket allen bit. you have one of these right? you should! went back and forth between tighten and loosen and still no go. I then sprayed some Kroil (you should have this too!) in there and applied directed heat with a low flame straight into the bolt head. I applied Kroil a few more squirts and more heat. Then I went back to the impact tool and a few back and forth tighten and loosen hits knocked the bolt loose. If I had tried to just muscle the bolt loose it would have stripped and then my work would have been 3x the time drilling out those bolts. Button nose allen bolts strip easy!!! You have been warned.

    I solid mounted the PC collar (smaller side up) to the pipe but all the other bolts were put together loose and then tightened at the end. My header to mid pipe washer was in great shape (as expected) but my muffler did not have a seal ring so I ordered that too from PC.

    Be aware, if you have a 01 or 02 (040) muffler the factory mount tab needs to be removed without a doubt! The PC round the muffler strap sits right where the factory tab is. I used an angle grinder, cutoff off wheel & sanding wheel. Not sure about the other years and models?

    As you can see in the pic the end of the pipe sits a few inches before the end of the bike and tight against the rear fender. I added 1 additional thick washer to the strap spacers (at the frame) to move it out say 2mm off the fender as it was touching it.

    I'd say eyeballing the pics, with the PC mid pipe, the muffler sits back farther on the bike than with the Jesse mid pipe. My muffler ends a few inches ahead of the rear of the license plate light.

    What you gain with the PC mid pipe is a slip joint held tight with beefy springs so the muffler can expand and contract with heat. Seems the Jesse mid pipe has the muffler fix mounted with his hanger bracket and over time the muffler will expand and contract and you'll find the hole on the factory muffler bracket will be enlarged over time.

    I use a Giant Loop Coyote bag over the rear of my rear seat (strapped to front edge of rear rear at the top) strapped to my passenger pegs. This puts pressure on the side panel. I put a GL hot spring guard on my muffler as seen. On the side panel there is a round rubber spacer and I have this hit the muffler just below the hot spring. When pressure is applied to the side panel both the hot spring and the rubber spacer work together to keep the side panel safe.

    Bike sounds great, as expected! And runs much better! It revs out easier.

    Good question as those that have tried oversized headers have reported (on drriders.com) a loss of low end power, but of course better top end? The stock header seemed to produce the best power for lower rev dual-sport riding. I'd suspect the same from a powerbomb header, but i don't know. They might really work best on MX bikes that are revved to the moon.

    Of course if you are a street/highway rider who revs high, then that header might be beneficial. I suspect most want low and broad power delivery however from their DRs.

    Out the back end, of course, anything is better than that heavy tank of a stock muffler. Having had that in my hand yesterday again all I can say is WOW it's unreal how overweight that thing is!

    Hey all,

    Time for a stupid question.

    If the stock GSXR can is lighter and better performance than the stock DR can, and the gsxr has aftermarket cans which are (supposedly) lighter and offer better performance than the stock GSXR can, why do people not put aftermarket gsxr cans on their DR?

    I feel like I'm missing something blindingly obvious, but I only thought about it because of the rarity of k1/2 gsxr stock cans, and the ease of getting aftermarket ones from a wrecker.

    The GSXR silencers never need repacking, they're multi-chambered baffles, no fiberglass or stainless steel wool packing. And they aren't as LOUD as aftermarket.

    Just saw this...

    I put a Powerbomb on mine to compliment the Q4 I had been running. I took it off after about 30 miles. I didn't like what it did to the bike at all. For me, it took all the bottom-end away and moved it way up top. I went back to the stock header and sold the FMF header to an inmate.

    Yeah and the fun police can't tell it's not a genuine pipe for the DR by looking at it, cause it's got Suzuki stamped on it, and they are therefore less suspicious.

    I have thought about looking for a decent (cheap) secondhand after market GSXR pipe tho, now that my bike is set up to bolt one straight on.
