Dream Racer on its last screenings, three locations on Wednesday 23 October: Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth!<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
Now I could tell you the same thing and say that the audience loved Dream Racer, but I would be repeating myself...here are a few quotes from screenings in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane:<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
"the most inspiring film I have seen in my 50 years on this planet" <o:p></o:p>
"you made me laugh, cry, and want to jump out of my seat"<o:p></o:p>
    ...enjoyed it immensely!<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
    Wednesday 23rd October @ 6:45pm -- this is your rendez-vous!<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
We have lined up some great Guest Speakers that will introduce Dream Racer at each location:<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
Brisbane: Christian Loghem & Stuart Ball from The Great Australian Ride (http://www.thegreataustralianride.com/).<o:p></o:p>
What's so special about Christian and Stuart? Adventure, Courage, Freedom...every August a 20 days motorcycle ride across Australia from East to West raising funds for the SIDS and KIDS Qld Charity that provides Queensland families with bereavement support and services for pregnancy, neonatal, accidental or sudden loss up to six years of age and make a difference in prevention and reduction rates of loss via education, awareness and advocacy.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
Adelaide: Leila Henderson -- Local Adelaide CEO and Publisher Leila is a journalist, author, public speaker, and PR practitioner with extensive senior editorial management and marketing experience. Leila is the founder of Adelaide own award-winning press release services, Newsmaker (http://www.newsmaker.com.au) and long supporter of Christophe's adventures across the globe. Q&A session at the end of Dream Racer will be hosted by Christophe Barriere-Varju, so ask away!<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
Perth: 7-times Women's World Marathon Swimming Champion, International Best-Selling Author, Champion Mindset, Motivation & Mental Toughness Performance Coach -- or simply to learn how to swim, our very own Shelley Taylor-Smith (http:// www.championmindset.com.au) whom you may remember her as setting a world record for a 90-kilometre swim from Sydney to Wollongong on January 17, 1995 in 12 hours 24 minutes 7 seconds. Shelley will have the pleasure of being your host for the night. Joining Shelley for the Q&A session will be Australian Dakar Racer Rob Pollard from Perth, 2010 Dakar Finisher and featured in Dream Racer.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
    <o:p> </o:p>
The film – which tells the story of French Australian Business Consultant Christophe Barriere-Varju’s attempt to take on the Dakar Rally on his motorbike, and producer, writer and director Simon Lee’s efforts to document it –was received with widespread acclaim from its first Australian public audience.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
Earlier this year Candide McDonald, Editor of Australian Creative magazine, dubbed Dream Racer “The motivational film of the decade”, and the reactions of audience members post-premiere echo this sentiment. Comments like “I laughed, I screamed and reinvigorated my dreams” and “a life changing movie event” are testament to the power of the Dream Racer story.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
Prior to its official release, Dream Racer has enjoyed success at film festivals around the world, with wins including Best Documentary at LA’s All Sports Festival, the Human Values and Sport Award in Barcelona and runner up for Best Documentary in New Delhi. Mitchell Block, producer of academy award winning documentary Big Mama described Dream Racer as “a compelling, moving and powerful film”.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
For the first time in a feature length film, Dream Racer shows the legendary Dakar Rally in its purest form – no sponsors, no multi-million dollar team, not even a mechanic – just one rider, a motorbike, a film maker and the world’s most dangerous motor race. But far more than just a motorbike movie, Dream Racer is a call to arms for anyone who has ever dreamt of doing anything – a spine tingling antidote to the fear of life passing you by unfulfilled.<o:p></o:p>

Might beat you by half an hour or so Sol.

    Guys,
There are a couple of fellas on dbw who have still not got their tickets for tonight's Adelaide show emailed to them. They are going to bring their emails etc with them and hope that will get them passed the door.

    Shouldn't be a problem??:dunno

EDIT: Christophe has just posted on DBW and said that the staff will be advised to allow emails etc to facilitate entry if you haven't received your eticket.

Well I hope not, although I haven't had any drama with the ASO yet:lol3. 2 days and still no email even about Dominik's ticket though. The transaction still shows as "pending" on my credit card so no confirmation other than I took note of the "Order #". I'll rock up with my overseas guest and hope he doesn't have to sit in the foyer for 90 minutes while enjoy the movie:lurk.

Saw it in Richmond, Melbourne, and really enjoyed it - the riding scenes gave me the shivers and as with all Dakar stuff the scenery was brilliant. Bit of a shame we were too late for drinks beforehand. Got a 50mm rusty nail in my bicycle tyre on the way there, rode home on the rim... it felt rather apt coming from a film about the Dakar :rofl.

It was great to meet you Christophe, nice of you to come down. I was amazed at how cheerful you seemed at the end of each riding day, after the long hours of physical punishment (especially with the injuries you were dealing with) I doubt I'd be smiling and cracking jokes for the camera. Beast of a support car you had there. Thanks for the stories!

Ok. I have 2 questions from the Perth viewing

How much weight did you lose during the Dakar and have you found it since??
Great insight into your journey - thanks for sharing.

My wife and I really enjoyed the movie, huge amount of work involved. Sad to hear about your training partners condition but sounds like the super model is still running amok. Thanks for a great nights entertainment

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get to the Brisbane screenings, so I guess the next best thing will have to be DVD. I've seen a few references to DVDs in recent posts, but haven't trawelled through the 15 pages to see if there is any specific mention of DVD release.

CBV - I assume there are plans for a DVD???:ear

    Cheers

My wife and I loved it last night. A shame you couldnt make it to the west, it would have been great to meet you.
We could not hang around afterwards, even though I saw a few familiar faces in the crowd. I had to start work at 3.45 am this morning. :eek1

    Thank you everyone...

Thank you to all that have helped out by driving around putting posters everywhere....this has helped a lot getting the word out.

A great night in Adelaide and I hear that Perth and Brisbane had a good time as well. It has been a fun 2 weeks for sure and I am glad Dream Racer was well received.

RE: DVDs + Blurays + VOD. Those shouldn't be available sometimes on November.

    I lost 7 kgs, I was looking good...but I got them back...couldn't live without them :lol3

Thanks! Bisou is under anaesthetic this morning, having her cruciate knee ligament being checked. She wants to be back in action next week, doc says 6 weeks. She is stubborn :D

Well it depends. If it is because of being afraid of falling, then practice falling in the sand, it hurts less, just avoid the bike getting on top of you, keep your chin to your chest, and roll whilst breathing out on impact.

If it is about the fear of losing balance, then practice little tricks to build confidence and to build automatisms. For example, ride slow in first gear in lose gravels and lock the front wheel, see how long you can ride like that. Stop, stay as long as you can and try to not put feet on the ground. Start with gentle long slides and put weight internal or external pegs and see the reaction of the bike...when you are comfortable then do big slides and wave at the guys watching you. Jut play ride a lot doing little tricks, that's the best way in my view. The confidence will build up when you stop thinking about what to do and all comes naturally.

Just bit by bit, but start with the basic of having a good neutral position on the bike.
