We have only just started so time to pull up the britches, loosen the belt, get an appetite, and grab some good grub.

    @Jub-->Looks like Gus's place has a very cool T-shirt.

@wingridrs--> I wish I would have known about Granny's earlier this month when I went through Americus. Well, next time I'll get in there.
The Habitat for Humanity site there in Americus is worthy of a ride report here if you will supply it.

Great start to the thread and all of us inmates following along appreciate the tips and recommendations for great eats, riding adventures, and sites to see.

There is a map I am updating with the locations inmates have ridden to and taken pics of. The map is found on the first page.

I place locations on the map as you ride there and give a "ride/eat report" of your experience. Thanks for participating and I look forward to posting up many more interesting "Dives, Drives, and Diners."

If you go to page 1 and see the second post, there is a link to a map. Items with a motorcycle icon have been visited, items with a question mark are inmate recommendations.
Let's get rid of the question marks. Get out and ride, eat, then post.

For many years no list of motorcycle destination in Jawja would have been complete without including Two Wheels Only Motorcycle Resort. I first went there in 1990 while living in Floriduh and became a regular. Sadly, in 2011 it closed for good:cry

Or so we all thought. Last month it re-opened under a new owner and new name. It is now called Two Wheels of Suches. Here's a few pics:

    Opening day:

    It was a gloomy day.

But the food was good. Unlike most restaurants, you don't get your own table. You just sit down wherever there is a space and get the chance to make new friends.

it didn't take long for more bikes to show up.

    The menu:

TWoS is not just a place to eat. It is a great place to Camp or even hold motorcycle rallys. To make large events possible, a new $80K bath house is under construction.

The plan is to show MotoGP and other motorcycle shows on the TV

The unique character of the old TWO is missing but I'm sure TWoS will develope it's own character. Here's a start:

Of course one of the best features of TWoS is it's fantastic location. Situated in the booming metropolis:rofl of Suches, GA it is located at the intersection of 60 and 180, two of the twistiest and most scenic roads in Georgia. At 2800 feet elevation it is much cooler than the rest of the state. You can feel the temperature drop as you ride up the mountain. Great during the summer, not so much in January.

Also nearby are some great places to get off the pavement and ride your Dual Sport bikes.

    HWY 60 north of TWO:

Another shot showing the curves on 60:

    Woody lake in Suches:

Dual sporting just a few miles away:

And of course, any time you head up into the Nawth Jawja mountains you never know what you will see.

Great post Klaviator! I definitely want to make a trip up there very soon before the weather starts to get cold. I'd like to enter my MB-5 into the True Grit Fun Run but I'm too cheap to register and insure it just for one day.

We have July and August coming up and your worried about it getting cold:rofl:rofl:rofl

Normally TWO stayed open into November and I expect TWoS will do the same. October is normally one of the best times of year there but the roads do get clogged with leaf lookers. July and August are also good months to go. It's typically almost too hot to ride further south but the higher elevations around Suches are still pretty comfortable.

Evan's Barbecue on Hwy 78 in Villa Rica ... ... ... Great BBQ on the far west side of Gawja

Hwy 78 and some if the surrounding roads are fun, dips and curves and some ups and downs.

Started with their BBQ Eggrolls, very good.
[IMG] BBQ nachos covered the plate.
    [IMG]. BBQ Spaghetti

    [IMG]. Maybe some fried chicken

[IMG]. Pork plate for me with a side of squash casserole and some fine potato salad. Two Dining rooms, great friendly service and very highly recommended.
Just drive here, I came up from Guyton just to get some,..... BBQ that is.

I saw this Mural the last time I passed through Ocilla and I was going to get a picture but there was a big Truck sitting right in front of it. I also noticed there was a place called the Peperoni grill and after getting the picture we thought we would try it out.

The food was good and the staff was very friendly. It looked like it might start raining and the lady told me I could park my Bike under the cover over the outside eating area. I couldn't fit my bike past the fence they had around it , but points for offering.

Outside View - I couldn't get a picture of the sign it's up over the cover and I would have had to walk way down the street to get it in the shot.

Couple of shots on the inside

The Mrs had the Philly Cheese Steak, she said it was the best she had had in awhile. I had a Bacon Cheese Burger. It was tasty as well, not the best I ever had but pretty good. Also it was big and the price was very reasonable.

OK, OK. OK this is not in GA, but for 99% of us, 99% of the ride is through our state. Head up thru Summerville, make a hard left and head up towards Menlo and on to Mentone. It's nice and cool on top of the mountain, but you can head left in town for a wonderful twisty ride to DeSoto Falls, stick your feet in the coooooool waters. Our daughter and Max the wonder dog (pre-soaking)

If you are bringing your lady along for a romantic ride, you can wander around this quaint burg, then head to lunch at The Wildflower Cafe. (Be careful, the driveway is a BITCH, might try back entrance)(that's what he said:rofl)

A reclining indian greets you in the hippy-trippy entrance to the restaurant. This place is laid back, eclectic, and full of stuff to look at.

The menu changes almost every day, we had tomato pie and chicken paninis, while a gentleman strolled and picked his guitar for us. The atmosphere is very laid back, no rush on anything. Get comfy, it might be a while.
