Dualsport 650 set up a long day in the saddle. 10 hours and 200 long miles. The plan was to ride across the Millican Plateau, and east to Prineville. From Prineville then to head North to find the Green Mountain Trail.

Meeting up at the Arco on South Third at 9am...

Pat from Bend, Brad 21, Dualsport650, Direwolf, Stihlrigg, Thumper605, Brauhausbier, and Stihlrigg's buddy Kirk from Cordova Alaska on the Husky. As soon as Kirk pulled in to the Arco on the Husky, the radiator started dripping. That was it for the Husky...Stihlrigg's repair on his loaner had not held. Right away we lost Kirk and Stihlrigg...

The previous evening at Dualsport650's house, Pat had told bad luck his last ride with two flats right at the start of his last ride.

Within just a couple of miles of hitting dirt,

    Pat's first flat.

After getting his tire back together, his rear flatted again in less than a mile and he called it a day. Now, we have lost three riders, and it's cold out.

A nice hill climb on the Millican

At the top of this hill climb , I found a weathered 12 pack of my companies brew..

Today was Direwolf's first dirt ride ever, and he rode his new ride, a 2002 KTM 640. He made a great attempt at this hillclimb, and bounced off a section of rocks on the steep, and rolled off his KTM and down the hill as I was just behind him on the climb. I wish I had a helmet cam.

Minus his tank bag, Direwolf and the 640 are okay.

Sweet start, wish we could have made it.

I got the radiator repaired again today. Hopefully Cpt. Kirk and I will get out in a day or 2.

Bring on the rest of the report, I can't wait to see what else I missed.

Yeah, Kudos to DW. DS650 took us to some spots that were challenging to say the least, especially on a 640.

If you look reaaaallllll closeley you can see him stack on the hill climb.

I think I must have forgotten that I had my camera with me. I only have a couple more decent shots from the first half of the ride.

Brad21 has some nice photos that I'll post here from the ride:

Thanks Brad21 for getting a shot of me on the DRZ. Not too often I see a pic of myself on this one.

Looks like you guys had a good turnout. I thought about heading over to join up again.......then I remembered how damn cold it is at 5:00 am heading across Diamond Lake in route to Bend.

Is that Dave's old KTM 640 Adventure on the ride? :freaky

I had to. It sat outside for 11 days in Coos Bay! Salty air sucks! :doh

No, not Wox's old bike, pretty similar though!

So yeah, once we made it to the Green Mountain trail it was pure nirvana. Banked, non-whooped out chocolate love butter as some would call it. Me and the two Matts got to the other side giggling like little school girls, then we made a wrong turn and ended up riding about 20 minutes extra to get back into Prineville to hook up with DW and BHB.

Great ride, 186 miles on my GPS. A little more slabbage than what we normally prefer but we ended up getting a little pressed for time. Oh well. Thanks for coming over you PDX guys!

Nice report and pics, thanks for posting them. It makes me all the more eager to get out there in June.

Looks like you guys had fun- Mrs. Brauhausbier's going to hook up with us for dinner when she's down this way next month- she says she's trying to get you to come with her for a trip so I figured I'd pile on... I bet we can find you a bike if you fly down - or we've been talking about renting a big cruiser type bike to see if we want to buy one or not - you could ride my GS.

    Mike,

Did Debbie call you this week? She's in SLC until this Thursday.

I don't have any time to get down there until June. Debbie keeps telling me she wants to move to SLC. She likes seeing the sun there and those warm temps (75 yesterday)!:rayof

Still more cool weather and rain this week in Puddetown. I'm looking forward to things drying out a bit.

I talked to her last night - I'm in the middle of a couple of home improvement projects and the missus is out of town so we're just going to get together next time she's here, the three of us.

The weather here has been nice. Sunny and dry, even when chilly- still fine for riding. Of course it's snowing today... I have to re-acclimate myself to the high desert- stuff changes fast.

As for moving here, you have to make that call. It's been good for us because both career moves have proved to be positives. The micro beer scene here is downright depressing, however. I have to get my brewery fired up this weekend, that reminds me.... So much to do.

Utah laws prohibit any beer made for trade in the state to be above 4% Alcohol by Weight (appx. 5% by volume). No big IPA's, Strong Ales, Belgian Strong Ales, Barley Wine, Whisky Barrel Aged Beer, etc...it's depressing. Good thing MK GS is going to fire up the homebrew kettle. Everyone should thank Jimmy Carter for signing into law the right to home brew. I believe the current Federal limit is 100 gallons per adult per household per year.:slurp

    I think I'm ready for a cold beer:dutch
