Thanks for having the CRF250L on your to-do-list. As a bit of info, there are two possibilities for rack mounting. One is to use 4 8mm bolts that go vertically thru the rear fender and get the rear subframe....some would argue this would be a better way to feed the vertical weight of the rack etc into the subframe than the 4 bolts that come with 2 long bolts for bungies that hold the seat, and 2 stick out from the sides of the fender...which take weight on the bolts in single shear. pick your poison I guess. The WR250R Yamaha, and the 2006 Husky 610 had those bolts going vertically into the subframe.

Ed, I have a Cycleracks rear rack on my CRF250L and they do make side racks for it also. I don't think they bolt on though. I will probably order a set in a month or so. Bill C

I tried to search this thread but it's a pain because I can't think of a keyword that would narrow down the results. I'm almost 100% certain I know the answer but I want to double check anyway. If I order the top and side rack combo for a DRZ400E, can I use the top rack by itself and install/remove the side racks as needed? Also, can the side racks be installed without the top rack?

I got invited to do a Continental Divide Ride next year, so it's time to get the bike ready.

    Hi PhiSig,

Yes, you can use the top rack by itself and install/remove the side racks as needed. On the DRZ-400E only, the side racks cannot be installed without the top rack, because that's what they mount to.

I don't know how many times I've google earthed the Continental Divide routes. That is a dream ride!

It doesn't look like it will work, but I figured I'd ask anyway. Can the hard case kit and rotopax mount be used on the same side racks?

Just a question while I wait for the WR250R racks to be available.

I can weld on the hard case tabs and also add the Rotopax plates to the rack. They can't be used at the same time though. If you took the side cases off, then you could bolt on the Rotopax Pack Mount and carry a Gas or water Pack.

    Hey nhrallyL,

I'm in the process expanding the product line to include the popular 250cc bikes. It's going to take a while. The CRF250L is on the list. If you could touch base with me again in about 3 weeks, maybe we can set something up to use your bike for R&D and you'll get free racks!

    Thanks, Tom

jackpiner57 - thank you for developing these racks. We have a pair of Yamaha WR250Xs. Your racks would fit the bill for these bikes. I would ask that you engineer a cross brace into the design - even if it's an optional piece. Do all of your loops come with the option for mounting RotoPax containers?

    mtntrails,

Thanks for inquiring about our dual-sport luggage racks. I currently have a WR250R in the shop for R&D purposes. I hope to have something designed in a week or so.

I'll design an optional cross brace for it too. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, all of our Side Luggage Racks can be fitted with the optional Mounting Plates to accept the Rotopax Pack Mount.

    Thanks,

    Tom Davies

I just concluded some business with Tom, he was a pleasure to work with. My Rotopax arrived yesterday, and I am eagerly awaiting my rear rack.

    Tom,

Don't know if anyone has told you this but "you got a nice rack" :lol3

Just installed mine yesterday. Top notch quality workmanship and fitment. Well worth the price.

    Thanks Wasser,

I'm glad you like the rack! Seems the older I get, the better it looks.:lol3

Your DRZ-400E looks great, I like the yellow.

    I appreciate the business!
