Love the trailing axle!! ^^^ Well done!!
Been reading up on DS trailers for a while now and have decided to try one.
So far, zero dollars. All the bushings and bearings are good. Shocks seem fine for 100 pound load. Need a good tire.
I thought I would flip the frame for the frontend and down tube but I think the head tube needs to lean forward?
Now for some cutting and welding.
This thread should go back in hacks.
Lots of good info in here.
Or, is there a new trailer thread up there?
I ordered a tire so I'm into it 25 bucks now.
Here's today's progress.
I am VERY curious to see how this turns out!
And I agree - it should go back into "Hacks" or maybe into "Assembly Required"...
I thought "Hacks" were sidecars.
from the home page:
"Sidecars & other cooleo 2+ wheeled moto-
This would fall under the second definition
But you would be the only one to find it
Photobucket is down or something. Made good progress today.
No issues with PB today.
Tried 2 different pics from the phone, then phone with WiFi, then laptop on WiFi and just now tried the desktop on cable.....
Maybe tomorrow. I hope to be testing it out tomorrow.
Tried resizing, renaming, different pics, deleting pics from PB. Nothing is working. I can't upload pics to PB. Guess they want me to upgrade.....to smugmug.
Now it's working. Last nights progress.
Found out too late you have to take apart a Z50 wheel to get the tire off. I cut the old one off bead and all and couldn't get the new one on.
Seems to work good!!! Now to finish weld and put on the box.
Took it out for a rip. Pretty cool!! Rode my 50 lb. son around the yard in it and could barely feel it. Then rode my wife sitting on the box and it held up just fine. Got a few odds and ends to tidy up but that's pretty much it aside from paint. Got a chrome fender for the back and might put a rack over that for a gas jug or something.
Edit: Got 25 bucks in the new tire and 40 in the box. Everything else was free or scrap around the garage.
Weighs 54 lbs.
Recycling at it's best. Way to go.
Yep, Fantastic! Please report back with final shiny pics and a report after some miles :>
For sure! But what color? I think that wheel needs to be red with the white wall tire. Maybe a white frame to make it easier to inspect welds.
