    What I find "intriguing" is the stopping distance, on dirt, with ABS on, as seen at about the 3:15 mark in that video. In fact, it stopped the bike so quickly it looks like he nearly mashes his nads on the tank! Given all the press the Yamaha Super Tenere is getting for it's excellent ABS performance off-road, I wonder if the Ducati shouldn't be given a bit more kudos for their ABS....

    Maybe it should. No one seems to be bothered to find out the actual relative merits of each system. It would be good to see some "old Skool' reviews where they actually did technical stuff like that and may embarrass some companies into improving their offerings.

    Be good to see the various ABS tested in various conditions wouldn't it?

    I think it would be a better thing than the weight obsession in this "class" of motorcycle.

    I don't have ABS but I wish the oem rear brake worked better. That would be more useful in the dirt then ABS in my opinion.

    From what I've been hearing, it sounds like Ducati has finally got their arms around the problem and will be providing a fix soon. Apparently the issue is with a misaligned master cylinder (mc) and push rod, which can result in poor brake performance. Some folks have solved the issue themselves by realigning the push rod and mc and then bleeding the brakes. No clue when the "official" fix is going to show up, but if your brakes are really bad, you may want to check on your push rod/mc alignment and see if that's the problem.     Good info Sock. I feel bad complaining, my rear brake isn't bad like some folks who won't hold them stopped on a hill. Mine just feels like my XR350R's rear drum brake. Works if you stand on it, but not exactly tight or confidence inspiring.

    ^ i don't think you're complaining at all. the rear brake should work better than it does. mine feels like absolute mush. if it works to some other's liking, that's fine, but I don't think mine works as well as it should.

    I concur. It feels llike mush. My dad's XT250 or my KLX both have much better feel on the rear brakes.

    I'm one that aligned the rear brake with the rod and bled at the same time. That was couple of weeks ago and rear brake is still working as it should. Firm and short travel, which means no air leaks YET.

    Non-ABS, so no comment on the off road braking.

    After three rear brake bleeds,dealer replaced master cylinder.Pedal was much better than when bike was new.After three weeks pedal travel has increased .Before I would loose rear brake totally about four weeks after bleedings,This is still the most fun bike I ever owned.

    Of note, I was able to get the ECU out without removing the entire tank, which saved a LOT of time. That makes the install a fairly quick afternoon install.

    Hey guys... I am looking for a part. When the dealer installed my Termi exhaust, I got a box of parts from the stock exhaust. Apparently it did not include the head shield for the cat (see pic below).

    If anyone has one they are willing to sell me, I would greatly appreciate it.

    My multi has 5500 miles and I still can't imagine a better bike! Loving it so far.

    I tried a variation on the winscreen spacing- I spaced out only the bottom 1/4" and it made a huge difference! I can hear my motor at highway speeds now!:clap It still isn't a goldwing but it isn't supposed to be.

    Has anyone managed to break anything yet? I know I'm not the only one bashing around on forest service roads and mild trails and wondering how these things are holding up? Mines been rock solid so far.

    I've been lucky and had no real issues- no surging, good rear brake. I had the new hands free just as it was starting ot give me trouble but that was fixed before it became a problem.

    Are you serious? In my 16,000 miles (split across two MTS1200S's), I've managed to TOTAL the first one in a high-speed ice crash, then recently did $7,000+ (yes, you read that right) damage in a lower-speed crash on an unexpected SILT BED.

    Many parts damaged in both cases. Mirrors, handguards, body panels, cases, rear panels where cases plug in, etc. Trying to decide if this is really the bike for me...

    I guess I should be more clear. I know there are some crashed ones and that will break anything. I'm talking about the kind of breakage that comes from bottoming out the suspension. hammering the drivetrain, and so on.Not that I expect these to hold up like a dirt bike but how "tough" it will turn out to be.I'm not gonna be the first to rail accross the desert but would like to see thelong term results if someone els does.:deal

    If you take the bike anywhere to test the robustness of the chassis, you will be dropping it eventually.

    I think Dr. Greg’s experience is very valid… though putting aftermarket hand guards and some crash bars would reduce the damage when it does go down. No getting around the 17” front wheel and significant weight. The former conspires to allow the latter to guarantee a bad result regardless of how well the shocks hold up in the whoops and rocks.

    It depends on how bad the bend is. Did the tire lose pressure? If not, then the bead seat is still OK and you can likely bend it back without cracking it. If you did lose tire pressure, then it's bent bad enough that any chance of fixing it will likely mean heating it, but with the rims being as thin as they are, that's a delicate process. Unfortunately it's the only way I know to try to salvage it.

    If you have time (i.e. don't need to be anywhere soon), there are places that you can ship your bent wheel to and they will fix it and ship it back, but it can take weeks. Two that are recommended are:
