Looks like you all had a great time except for TBarstows broken collar bone and Ron's hip. Sorry I couldn't make it this year, maybe next year.

Thanks Razr for getting this going and to 1224R for the good eats! Riding Friday and Saturday was Epic. Riding back to SB in the rain on Sunday was brutal. Saw Razr pass us heading out of DV in the rain in his van and was jealous :2cry

    Looking forward to next year!

    Saturday, 1/30/16 (part 1)

Another late night and another late start.
Yesterday worked out well, so our little group stayed the same.
Today we would be aiming for an Echo Cyn, Big Dune, Beatty, Chloride loop.

    Here we go :pynd
    [IMG]

Looking back at the valley before entering the narrows.

    Needles Eye Arch.

Turning off just before Inyo Mine.

    Rob scoping out the steps...

... and then clears the first section nicely :clap

Robert was a bit nervous since this sort of obstacle was a stretch for his experience/skill level.
After a bit of advice and encouragement, he gave it a solid attempt :thumb

    Almost made it :muutt

I then proceeded to ride up both sections, no dabs, one handed, while waving to the lizards :norton
Pretty sure Rob got it on video :D

Rob pedals up the second step.

Robert's attempt at the second step got a little wild and I completely failed to get it on video (damn cell phone :baldy).
The WR earned a few new battle scars, but no permanent damage done to man or machine :thumb

Seemed like a nice place to take a break so we did :beer

Just about ready to get a move on when we heard more bikes rolling up the canyon.
Let's stick around and watch the show :lurk

    Oh so close.

This WR rider nailed it :nod

I think Robert felt better after this one :augie

Looked pretty good up until the end :doh

Turned out there was nobody we knew in this group. Just a bunch of friends out having good time :thumb
We were all rested up and decided to "push" :rolleyes on rather than get caught in their dust.

We were quickly over the pass and heading down towards Amargosa Valley ...

... with a couple easy obstacles along the way.

Rode down the canyon, turned east at Lee's Camp into NV, then picked up Fronteir Rd and Mojave Rd on our way to Big Dune.
Normally I would take some on-the-fly shots in sections like this, but not gonna happen with the cell phone cam :nah

We arrived at the dunes and picked a small but prominent one to aim for.
I charged about halfway up and got dug in 'cause sand mountains are foreign to me.

Robert roosted a little farther then settled down for a day at the beach :jkam
    [IMG]

Rob put his mark in the powder just below the crest.

    Time for some fun :ricky

I tried a little sand surfing as well, but just not comfortable continuously flogging the bike/motor.
Basically gotta keep the R's up all of the time in order make things work right.

    Very fun though :nod

One more pic on the way out of the dunes.

Approaching noon time, so it was time to head towards Beatty for our lunch stop.

We crossed Hwy95, rode over Steve's Pass, and circled around the east side of Bare Mtn.
All fast and easy big gravel roads so I didn't stop to take any pics.

Gets a little more interesting going up Tarantula Cyn ...

... and down Perlite Cyn into town.

Been to KC's a few times before, but wanted to try something new this time.

How about The Happy Burro :dukegirl
    [IMG]

They had a really nice outdoor patio area for dirty bikers.

Lunch was okay (burgers). Fast and simple, nothing special or fancy, but no complaints from me either.

We left town heading south on Hwy95 for a couple miles, then picked up a desert two-track just behind the closed 'social club' near the airport.

Was around here that I experienced a self-inflicted equipment storage failure :doh
Luckily, sudden loss of helmet tunes warned me of the problem before we had gotten too far away :augie

Stopped for a quick 'vanishing point' pic when we intersected the old T&T railroad bed.

Couldn't the camera out fast enough to catch Rob (who was hauling butt), but I did catch Robert :wave
    [IMG]

I let Rob know over the SENA that we would soon be making a left turn the graded dirt road to Chloride Cliffs.
Unfortunately, it was at that exact moment that he was crossing said road. Make that flying across :pynd
By the time I remounted and reached the intersection, their dust trails were already far in the wrong direction.
I waited a bit giving chase, hoping they would stop at another crossing to regroup.

Well... It turns out that Rob did stop at the next crossing :eekers
    [IMG]

He was already up and on the bike when I arrived, so i'll let him fill in the details if he likes :deal

We turned around and headed back to Chloride Cliffs road, where the guys opted to hit the highway back to camp.
Rob had taken some big hits to his leg and ankle, and didn't feel up to any more stand-up off road riding.

I turned west and buzzed across the valley ...

... back into CA and DV :thumb
    [IMG]

I had thought to maybe do some poking around up on Chloride Cliffs, but the day was getting long and the weather was turning ugly.
Very gusty at the high point near the Chloride turnoff, and the view to the north was obscured by windblown dust.
Also, since I was now flying solo, decided to keep cruising back towards camp.

Did make one detour down the dead-end canyon towards Monarch Spring. Scenic, but desolate.

Back into the valley at Hell's Gate.

    Flowers blooming along Hwy190.

    Mustard Cyn.

... and another night around the campfire :kumbaya

Thanks for sharing photos! I wasn't able to make it again this year, darn it, but I enjoy seeing the sunshine and beautiful scenery and great riding conditions you guys enjoyed this year (except on the ride home...). :-) I was looking forward to more outstanding riding conditions as well as the fun campfires, kicking back listening to the live music, singing along.... Unfortunately my bike ended up "vacationing" in CO this winter instead of NM as I had planned, so I wasn't able to fly down this winter and do some riding. Colorado, NM and even parts of AZ got dumped on with snow this winter. Up here in Anchorage we don't have any snow, which stinks as I can't go skiing without having to drive 50 miles out of town. No riding - no skiing - what's a girl to do in winter? I bought studded bicycle tires and do two-wheel riding on my mtn. bike! I hope to fly down to CO in May and pick up my lonely bike and ride her to warm and sunny NM and do some riding there before it gets too hot. I hope to store my bike in southern NM next winter so MAYBE I'll be able to ride to Death Valley again, if the weather cooperates.

    Happy trails!

Leg is doing good. Went to urgent care the Monday after the rally. Turns out I have a fractured Fibula along with a swollen sprain ankle. It could have been worse. I'm hoping to get out for a small ride this weekend as long as throwing my leg over the bike doesn't hurt too much.
