You never know this time of year when a high elevation ride may be the last of the season. During a nice dualsport loop a week ago, suggestions were floating around about a nice Wenatchee area loop. A few riders on the resulting trip have a jones for this place, and between late openings, fires, and early winters, it can be tough to get up there without a firm push. It is a strenuous but spectacular loop.

I was having a crashy day and decided to wait and build up some more steam as the group rode up a nearby peak for the challenge and views, and started fooling with my phone video feature as I waited. The huffing and puffing is icing on the cake.

The first guy back of course is the young buck in a loincloth, with ancient sages following.

Mattwave, in our group, if you're not old enough to collect Social Security, you're considered a young buck.

Thanks for leading the way down Chikamin Creek. Steve, on the 350, suckered me onto the front descending Chikamin Tie and I was wringing water out of my long undies at the trailhead from all the soaked brush overhanging the trail. Felt like Tahuya for a while there. Even when you are old, there's always somebody wiser than you, despite the old saying.

Pretty hard to beat a ride like that, when you can sneak in after the dust and fires, but before the serious snow and trail closures happen.

Your tracks are like my tracks. Anybody is welcome to my tracks. You will find them on the ground pretty much everywhere I have been. Better hurry cause they are easier to follow the fresher they are.

My wife and I snowmobile the heck out of that area every winter.

It would be fun (and interesting) to take the KTM over there and see some of the terrain before the snow flies this year.
