Thank you kindly. I kinda figured it was a bit early, but when a full weekend shows up free, I get excited

Ya. Just checked the forecast. Maybe not so much for a lonely single ride, on stuff I've never seen before.

I know, where's the "adventure" spirit

I would think you could ride a ways in on the Bull River main road head in through Galloway, nothing to challenging but nice scenery and gravel

Oh Wow! Kootenay Adveture Rider Rally at Red Mountain. Wish I could be there! Will be away on that date. I would love to see this become a regular thing in my neighbourhood. I hope some of you will be up for it!!!

Went up to VOR tower last weekend. Last 1,500 metres still snow on road. Was a nice ride. On the other hand Baker mountain was clear the whole way. With snow on sides of road.

Gray Creek Pass open, copy/paste from Gray Creek Store site:

"Gray Creek Pass Update June 23, 2017
The pass is open for the season! Crews just removed 3 feet of snow that was still at the top of the pass, so the road might be slick and mucky at the top. Also be aware that the road is quite rocky on the Kimberly side"

Unusual that a crew removed the snow, usually it's up to Ma Nature to "clear" the snow.
I wonder what the opening date would have been without human intervention?

At least two weeks!! Three feet of snow @ 6900 elevation and that first switchback on the east side that's tucked into the shade.
There must be some reason for them to have plowed it since plowing is unusual. Logging show that wants to get going?

Folks on the Kimberly side told me there was a rock/ mud slide near the top so they brought in an excavator to clear that up. Sounds like it wasn't a trivial amount of work.

New guy here, been riding in the EK for a few years (just upgraded from a 07 klx to a 17 wrr). I have been checking in on this thread periodically as it seems to be the most active thread i can find for dualsport ridding in this area. A couple questions if i may. There are several mentions of a dualsportmaps.com earlier in this thread that had routes in the east kootenays. The link is now dead and i am wondering if it has moved somewhere new i can check out? Also are there any other forums i have missed that are more active for ridding in our area? Thanks. I look forward to contributing more to this community and possibly joining in on a ride or two next season.

The dual sport BC facebook page sometimes has info for the East Koots. https://www.facebook.com/groups/dualsportbc/
Otherwise, you can get lots of great info from following Lycan1's tracks and ride reports. http://advrider.com/index.php?threa...eekend-at-a-time.894331/page-23#post-33339215
He also posts GPX tracks, conveniently here (pretty sure these are the same tracks that Lee had uploaded to dualsportmaps: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/calgary-area-tracks.887638/
Also, I ride the East Koots most weekends - if you surf through my RR, there's the odd gem in there for your area.
