Hey guys -
Just wanted to let y'all know that things are set for the 2013 Dual Sport Desert Daze in Southern Arizona.
Official thread is here:
Hope to see y'all there!
Hey 750, where have you been? I remember reading a post on here a while back that says you were getting out of riding, or something like that. Are you back on the bike now?
I'm a Washington state rider but ill be in Mesa tomorrow. I'd be up for most any ride. I have my WR250R with me on this trip. I'll be leaving for home around the 15th of January. I'll be watching this thread for any activity. My wife and friends give me crap about riding alone in remote areas so if your heading out for a ride let me know. Lets do some damage!
I'm looking for a little riding in the area too. Might hit carefree area tomorrow.
Sounds good, I'll be there
I'm gonna try. I think the place is right off 202 right? I ride a blue WR250. If I don't show, have a great time.
I was on my way to Young, I took the road from Miami. I traveled North for about 25 miles. At the point where the road turns to dirt I spotted a sign that said "Beer, wine and burgers 1/2 mile". I couldn't resist and pulled in. Great food and good people. Some locals talked me in to skipping Young and taking A-Cross road to Roosevelt. I did that and it was fun. This bar is at A-Cross road and the Globe-Young Hwy. I have pictures but I can't post right now but will later. I'll also have more contact info too. This was the the high light of my trip so far.
@XB12R - bring'em pictures to share during b'fast!
I had a great time gents. The only down side was the long ride back home through Phoenix traffic! Lets do it again this week!
Thanks for a great day, Paul sure knows how to pick a nice route.
If you want to head up to those trails near Florence and Cave Creek let me know

Actually, the windshield is fine.
It's the rider that needs some practice on riding properly this bike!
I have a tentative plan for Saturday for all who might be interested. Meet at the Queen Creek Café at 8:00 for Breakfast, for anyone not wishing to eat be there at 9:00. I am thinking of going to the Martinez Mine via the Box Canyon. We can then see if we can find the way to the Ajax Mine and depending on the conditions and time we can either go to Superior or head to highway 79. Keep in mind that I have not been in Box Canyon further North of the Martinez Mine before so this will be kind of a see what we can find and what conditions we are comfortable with. I have also done Telegraph road from Superior to the Orphan Boy Mine so am a little experienced with that section. Again all are welcome but I consider myself a C- rider so my pace is slow .
I am open to any changes that anyone would like to suggest but no coke ovens!!!!! I have seen the pictures of the carnage. See you all Saturday.
PS Great video Ricardo!!
Excellent job Ricardo! You have more patience than me.
If I remember correctly that's the road to Martinez canyon but it wasn't too bad, The worst part is after the old shack with basketball size rocks. I plan on leaving the bike at the shack and walking the last 100 or so yards to the mine site.
It looks like we can avoid the steps by a couple of differnt trails but if it gets to bad we can go back thru Box Canyon and take 79 to the Cottonwood Canyon Road
My thoughts are that no one should do anything that they are not comfortable with including myself.
I think Martinez is closed.
