I rode out to Canyon lake this morning. After being passed by several police, fire trucks, and ambulance; I had a really good ride.

Something must have happened near Apache lake. The air evac was cruising past tortilla flats.

That is unreal. I am amazed that the person was able to walk back to tortilla flats to call 911.

I was on the road at 7, so I got passed by the first responders. None of the trucks were running sirens. They would just blip once and I would pull over.

I hope everything works out okay.

Just goes to show that even though the Ap Trail is easy....you should still pay attention to the road.

I watched a squid low-side it in the very same place on Father's Day 2009 on a GSX-R 600. He low-slided after slamming on the rear brake and slid all the way off the edge of that cliff and bounced down about 200 feet or so.

I waited around to direct traffic until they were able to go down the hill and fetch him; he broke one finger and complained that his $400 helmet was damaged in the fall. :asshat:

    That's be great.

Yeah I really enjoyed camping up there a few weeks ago. I'm not really set up properly for camping off of the bike but I can manage a day or two. Would really like to do that up there but I hardly ever have a full weekend to do so.

Nice! Was it to hot? I imagine it would've been if you weren't moving very quickly. I've been wanting to do this ride for a while, but my KLR needs a tech day before I go do anything to far. Needs new brake pads, it has an oil leak ever since I did the DOO, needs an oil change, need to lube the throttle cables etc. I have most of the stuff already, just need to find the time.

The weather was great. At the top of the mountain the clouds were hazy in the morning, so they killed a lot of the heat.

Later on in the day the wind really picked up. I never felt like I was overheating.

All the plants are still green from spring, so the scenery was really nice.

In the middle of the ride coming back down cherry springs, we saw a 4' gopher snake sunnning itself in the middle of the road. It raised its head off the ground as Julio passed to see who was making all the noise.

Nice and cool in the hills though...my reward was a flat rear as I bombed down 60 in Mesa...

Man, that looks like hundreds of thousands of dead fish! I agree. What's up with the water in the San Carlos reservoir?!

WOW!!! Just a few years back that place was the best place for crappie fishing. I went out there with my dad, brother, and grandpa and in a matter of a couple hours had 100 fish in the boat. Now it's nothing! Sad day for San Carlos.
