OK, decided there is enough interest for a Northern Il/In-Southern Michigan Tag Dealio here. I will start with some basic rulez, but we will make up the rest as we go. I want this to be fun, and get everyone involved and riding, so my rules will be set with those two goals in mind. First off let's look at the basic Photo-tag rules. (thanks to JJMSP for his Central USA Photo Tag thread that I used as the inspiration for this local one.) Find and ride to where the last tag in the thread was placed. Take a picture of your scooter in the same position as the last tag, and post it in the thread. This gives you possession of the tag, and you can post it in a new location. Try to do so as soon as possible, so that everyone has a chance to find it quickly, and then post their own tag. This keeps the game moving along. Try take your new picture in an area with good riding, history, or activities for the rider who looks for your tag. Make sure your motorcycle is in the new picture, and don't make it too difficult for the next rider to take a pic of his bike in the same location. Try not to make your tag impossible to find. (use a hint if you have to- I take extra pictures of the location just in case the tag I post only makes sense to me) Try not to post your new tag too close to your old one; as I see it, the whole point of this game is to get everyone out there participating, and riding and experiencing more. Host your picture via Smugmug, photobucket, flicker, etc. I already had a PB account, but smugmug is highly rated by the inmates here, and run by the owner of this site, IIRC. You can use archived photos for the new tag but I prefer that you didn't, if at all possible. We are using a pretty small area, comparatively, and should be able to take the tag from one end of our area to the other in a day. If you are using an archived photo for the new tag, you should be certain that your photo is still valid, accessible, and looks like the landmark does today. Let's not use old photos for the old tag- the point of this game is to get out and ride, and maybe even find some new areas. Personally, I think it is cooler to take all new pix whenever possible, and for that reason I carry this 7 year old laptop with me on the longer tagging trips. I make sure I find someplace with WiFi, and post from the road or motel room. It will become more difficult to move the tag around as it gets colder, but I will do my best to keep this nearly four seasons. I know many of you are goofy enough to try to do the same. Anything else, ask here, or PM me. Oh yeah- the boundaries. This will be N IL/S IN/S MI based, with the boundary being north of I 74 for IL/IN, and south of 196/96 in Michigan. The map of tags so far- Tip O Lake Michigan Tag O Rama!
