I looked around a bit for a section for the greater El Paso area riders. Couldn't seem to find any threads so I'm starting this one.

So post pics, ride reports, RTE's, and anything else about local life. Oh and did I mention pics from your adventures! I hope to get lots of gnarly riding and great food with all my fellow inmates.

And don't be shy about giving me the one finger salute when you see me on the roads and trails. :freaky

    Keep the rubber side down.

I'm in ep. I ride mostly dirt (ktm 300, kx450n cr250, cr125) from short 30 mile loops to some longer 200 mile loops through the desert. I have a gs I ride around when I'm jonesing and can't get on a dirt bike for whatever reason. I'm always game for a ride or to meet somewhere for food or drink beer in a garage. Let me know.

What's up Henry. Same here. I mostly do shorter rides but occasionally I'll go out for 4 days of riding and exploring.

Right now I have two bikes. KTM 950 Adventure and a Yamerhammer YZ250F set up for desert riding with the big fuel tank, rally fairing, suspension, etc etc.

I'm actually still in Virginia. My wife has to report to bliss in early December. So once we get the housing situation taken care of then I'm a free man to go ride and drink beer!

    And my number is 818-foursixeight-22o1

El Paso is a unique place for ADVers. Lots of riding area and varied terrain. We're split up as far as West side/East side of the mountain but whatever side you end up on you'll have plenty of places to ride. :beer

Sounds like a good time to me! Once I get a house and my workshop set up I'm down to help wrench on y'all's bikes. Beer, loud music and fixing shit so we can keep riding is what I like to do. Also have a small toyhauler for the straight dirtbike rides.

Gonna kick off the ride report with some pics of some recient rides on my bikes.

This was from the Roaming Rally in Ontario and Quebec, Canada,
    By some lake
    [IMG]

Rolled up on a campsite in quebec and found these drunk french dudes on quads, one had half a bear with a coors light can safety wired to its paw. Thats Flanny being a dork.

This was on the second to last day. a group of us (the fast group) were riding the last few kms of the days ride on the hardtop so we got a little cocky and decided that we needed to ride triple digits with all our gear for 3 days on the bike. This guy was leading, glanced down at his gps and when he looked up he was going waaaaay to hot into the corner. locked it up and had a 200 foot skidmark, highsided, flipped the bike a few times, bike landed upside down and faceing the direction we were coming from. he was ejected and flew through the trees, and by threw i mean bounced off a few before landed a good 80 feet into the woodline. dude was all jacked up. Thats Neduro in the orange klim sweater. He finished the Dakar rally like 2 years ago. finished 60th place overall. That dude could ride. he was on his ktm 450 that he raced in Dakar. I came cruising up on him going 110mph or so on gravel. looked over. he had one and on the handlebars. looked over, threw the deuces, then popped a wheelie and pulled away like i was standing still.

    Just a short pee break
    [IMG]

Ferry crossing. I wanted to try and ride it across but i was told that it was too deep:evil
    [IMG]

OPP, yeah you know me! Apperantly some guys from our group were stealing signs. So we got hasseled a little bit. Luckally one of the guys in our group knew the cop.

MotoRoberto from NY tried to keep up with me on the gravel. When I looked back he was gone. turned around and rode a ways to find this. Fucked his ankle up pretty good. it was really swollen and black and blue. I told him to quit bitching and ride since there was still two more days of riding. and he rode it in from NY.

CJ Racers 2wd 950 adventure. Really cool dude.

Neduros presentation on his race in the Dakar rally. Deadly99 (ted) was also there but as a medic. Hes one of the main creators of this rally.

Heres some random rides from when I lived in Olympia, Washtington.

This was after I powder coated everything on the bike I could
    [IMG]

Snowday ride. Sketch as fuck. Tried to drift it around a long sweeper. Did steller, till i hat to straighten it out. Laid the bitch down.

Rod Run at Longbeach Washington. Took the bike out for some hooligan activities early in the morning. Sooooo fun to drift the bike in the hardpack sand. Perfect angle of the sand so you can just hold the bike sideways all day long. Then i burried it in the soft sand when i went to turn around. took a few strangers to help get it out.:D
    [IMG]

4day trip around the olympic peninsula with the ole' lady on the back. This is at neah bay, the furthest west you can go in washington.

At the top of capitol forest with Eldon (lee). One of many many trips there to ride and shoot. Good times, Dudes impossible to keep up with.

Power lines at capitol forest with eldon and dan950ser. That was his plated 530 before he looped it out on the street.

And this was before i got my 950. My $50 suzuki katana 600.

Safe travels Sandman. if you haven't settled on a house yet look at the east side there are plenty of new neighborhoods that adjoin the Desert so you can ride out straight from your garage.

you might try cross posting in the rockies sub-forum thats where most of us from the el paso an surrounding areas hangout as el paso is more aligned with that region.

@blackhawkchief, I'll check out that forum. Were in the process of closing a house right now. All my wifes friends from civil affairs are living on the west end... So thats where our house is now. We almost closed on a house in the north east but then backed out last minute. Our new house backs up to the franklin mountians and this one has a 3 car garage so its a win win for me. I need a battery in the ktm and a little tlc before ill be ready to ride. And all my riding gear is in army storage. But i need to find legal-ish areas to ride asap! I have cabin fever from living in a hotel for the last month!:eek1:eek1

I live on the west side too. At the top of Helen of Troy. My yz still needs some cab work. The KTM 950 has a street tire on the front an. Bald knobbie on the back. I could take the 950 if it's not too soft and nasty. What do you ride and what's the terrain like?

Sounds good. The yz' carb is all torn down and cleaned. Just gotta get in a few of the ports. I put it in a vibrating tumbler with crushed walnut shells so it's nice and shiney. But some of the walnut shells got jammed in some small tubes. So I was picking them out all last night. I have be rebuild kit in my hands right now. Once I get everything cleaned out then going back together is the easy part. What day/time were you wanting to ride? My number is (818)-468-2201 and my real name is chris.
