FWIW, Colorado state laws says you can ride up to 50cc on a bike path unless the local city or some other governmental agency says otherwise. Subject came up a couple years ago when a person asked about alternative routes from Eagle to Vail. Non freeway is a very twisty slow route 50 miles long that takes 2:45 minutes vs 8 miles by either I-70 or the bicycle trail. Asking the state patrol since though technically legal her 150cc wasn't really a good fit for I-70. Cop told her to take the bicycle trail and if anyone said anything tell them 50ccs were legal and the 150 on the side was just a model not size. ;) She didn't want to do that because of bicycle rider's probable wrath. I though the cop was being very pragmatic since he thought the bike trail was a better option than the interstate.

Edit make that 2:45 hours not minutes and she needed to go not for pleasure ride.

More than a little exaggerated, but, still.

I think he was referring to moving parts, not weight. But I see your point.

Can you count the moving parts in a battery? I'll loan you my calculator. No fair counting electrons either.

No fair for sure. They'll move, but not long enough for anybody's gimmick computer
    to count them.

    I think I'd rather have a horse.

I haven't read through this entire thread so sorry if it's been discussed prior. Someone suggested a GenZe 2.0 to me in another forum. Looks like we have a local dealer so I'm going to try and check them out next week while I'm off work. 30mph, 30 mile range, 3 year warranty for $3K And made in the USA.

It's about e-motorcycles and scooters not bicycles, There's a big electric bicycle thread in Shiny Things were those posts have been punted.

I took a tour of zev a while ago and really like them. If it didn't just start snowing i would have loved to have taken a ride in that scooter.

Very cool. Really impressed with their engineering . Quality stuff.

Nice to see the elec bikes finally becoming reasonably priced and decent range on a charge.

US retroactively extends tax credits for charger installations, electric motorcycles and fuel cell vehicles through end of 2017
    Jameson Dow

    - Feb. 9th 2018

Today, Congress took action to retroactively extend several tax credits, and among them were credits for EV charging infrastructure, fuel cell vehicles and electric motorcycles.

A lot of people know about the $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicle purchases, but there are a number of other incentives available to EV buyers which help to offset initial costs. These include today’s newly-extended 30% rebate (up to $1,000) on costs associated with the installation of an EV charging station, a 10% credit (up to $2,500) on 2- or 3-wheeled electric vehicles such as electric motorcycles

Oh man. I was super close in buying a Zero or a Brammo/Victory last year. Bummer, as I definitely would have had I known I’d qualify for the federal tax incentive.

I really like the Zero bikes, and think that electric vehicles will dominate the market in the future. But it says something about the present cost/value when a real proponent of electrics makes a purchase decision based on a tax credit.

Riding position seems a bit awkward.. but I like the elimination of chain/sprocket drive, for less makntenance, less parts to wear out.

Hmm.. I can't say i like it. But who knows. Its interesting. But i like the direction zero is going with bikes for real riders and not just hipsters.
