Last year while riding in Hells Canyon, Oregon, we ran into inmate Dr. Bike from British Columbia. He was touring all the way to the Labrador coast with his daughter riding shotgun in the sidecar of his Ural. We enjoyed a homestyle breakfast while swapping tales from the road and Dr. Bike made a bold statement. It is his belief that the Hells Canyon area gives the infamous Tail of the Dragon a run for its money! We agreed, but only because we'd never slayed the Dragon!

The challenge was set; my buddy Bryan and I must investigate this claim…

How I support my addiction… Not one of my co-works can wrap their heads around spending 2 weeks on a bike. Anyone else have this problem?

Learned a few things AFTER last years ride. (1) How to operate the GoPro (2) One can never have too many cameras! (or memory)

Day 1: Phoenix, AZ to El Paso, TX: 403 mi.

Bryan flew into Phoenix from San Antonio, Texas at 7:00am just to turn right back around and ride back to Texas at 3 PM that day! I pulled a half-day to preserve precious vacation time. We said goodbye to our women (& Darren) and hit the road around 3 PM bound for El Paso. We took US 60 east to avoid starting our adventure on the slab. Bryan is on the left and I'm the husky one on the right.

One of these days I will write this report...

In the mean time, here's the first installment as I make a sloppy attempt to document it on Hi8!
