Is there anything better than leaving a smoggy, foggy, cold city in February and going to the coast were temperatures vary from 10 to 15 degrees Celsius to do some enduro?

    I don't think so......

Last year I met this guy Danijel, a Croatian guy raised in Munich, Germany. Danijel has a small business for arranging bike tours around Croatia. He offers all kind of stuff, from big bike road tours to small bike hard enduro tours.
He was kind enough to invite me to join his first group this year to do some riding around city of Zadar.

As my trusty old KTM 640 Adv wasn't the weapon of choice for this kind of riding I had to borrow a bike from a friend which I'd like to thank here! :bow

This is what I rode for two days:

    A Husaberg FE 450......:evil

The group gathered in a small town of Posedarje to the north from Zadar and the coast of the Adriatic sea and acommodation was prearranged in a cosy little private bed&breakfast in a place named Vinjerac, here's one night photo taken in Vinjerac just before dinner in a characteristical Dalmatian family restaurant called „Konoba“. Konoba's are famous for excellent sea food specialties, paticularly fish...

    Here are the other rides:

    GasGas 250 with a 270 or 280 ccm kit...not exactly sure

    KTM EXC 300 twosmoke

And a brand new Husaberg TE 300 ....also twosmoke......I really really like this bike

    Our host's KTM EXC 400

On Friday morning we woke up, sun was shining, temperature was ideal and some preparation was to be done. After suiteing up, lubing the chains, adding gasoline and performing various checks we were finally off....

Danijel led us through some rocky terrain, quite difficult for me as I have not ridden any real rocks in my enduro career, I must admit that the whole day one I couldn't relax on rocky surface and beeing all stiff and probably a bit scared I had some minor spills that consumed my energy. The three guys that came as guests proved to be quite good riders. Especially one on the KTM.... :huh

After the rocky part came some sandy surfaces that we all enjoyed very much...

Our way led us to some „sand pits“...let's call them pits because I don't know how places from where sand is taken for construction are called in english.....

    Pure fun:

Yup....I sure did land it pretty hard on that next pic but I managed to do it with no consequences....I really like the pic though.....shows my skill in a much better light than it actually is...... :D

After some play in the sand pits we rushed over some sandy fields covered with grass....fast and fun....the fields led us to a nice Erzberg like hill (well no Erzberg here....just looks a bit like it...) ....meaning a hill than a flat part, than a hill and a flat part and a hill than a flat.....

    The view from top:

Than some more sand pits...man....I could spend a day in one of these just training....and having mad fun of course....:clap

After 4 hours of riding we took a break and had some lunch at a local place that serves home cooked meals with ingredients from their own fields.....

The second part of the day coming up.....

    Cheers!

Thats and incredible play ground you have there! Those stables of motorcycles are great too, the two-smokers are making a come back? I bet your skills went way up after all that hard work! Thanks for sharing and posting up! Your part of the world looks fascinating.

Sorry for such a delay....I had a busy couple of weeks.....

But let's go on, day two didn't start as planned, the owner of a lovely 2t Husaberg woke up with a cold, high temperature and wasn't able to ride.

It started kinda rough, with rocky terrain again, fields covered with scarce vegetation but I felt much better on the rocks....to describe the riding technique I'd say controlling the throttle and fluently keeping the speed while letting the suspension do the work is key. Of course...you need to be relaxed and keep the balance while standing......which was the hardest part for me....

I have no pics from really hard parts...obviously....:D

Nice track along the coastline, narrow, technical....

    Some water crossings:

Some railroad crossing; fun to climb up the stony bridge base, not fun to get stuck in the middle of the rails..... :eek1

Below the bridge is a small creek...I really enjoyed riding through it, shallow enough so you can anticipate rocks but water flow makes it difficult to balance....

Some damp fields with 10 cm of water on the surface....

Again some mildly rocky parts among the fields with people burning the bush.....

A nice view in the back

I'd like to thank Danijel for inviting me for a ride in such a beautiful part of my country that is a real joy to get to know on a bike.

I strongly recommend him and his company if interest exists in enduro and tours around Croatia. The level of organisation, the whole experience and ambient is top notch.
