Planning on going to New Zealand and I would like to ride there but the enduro tours are expensive with guide and everything. Thinking about renting a ktm and bringing my camping gear. is this OK there, or am i riding on private property etc. - any routes i should try? roughly 4-5 days in Febuary

Suggest to tap into the local forum here:
    http://advrider.com/index.php?forums/new-zealand.65/
    Lots of basic info here:

With only a few days I'd suggest to not waste time and pick either the North or South Island, then look for routes and tips.
Best and most comprehensive info for the South is here:
    http://www.remotemoto.com/
    ....for the North here

And maybe for some visual entertainment, try this (South Island).
Or a bit of a scenic slow-cruise of the very north of the North

I'll be back with a bunch of mates to the Northland in November...that's 10 days...and that's just north of Auckland :bite

Have a look at this bike hire business...they might have everything you need for a 4-5 day ride and are located near some great riding. He doesn't have many bikes so you may need to book early.
