great pics as well. i'm enjoying your travel as much as you do.
great pics and trip - thanks for showing :)
PS: a short question - what's your average cost per travel day - approximately - >= 60 $ per person ?
Again beautyfull pic's from this beautyfull landscape, thank you for showing.
Our average i the north, USA and Canada was 100$ together. In central- and south america expect of Chile and Argentina, it was 50$ together. But now in Chile and Argentina its 75$ because they are more expensive than the other countries here especialy the gas.
What an awesome adventure
We are still alive but didn't had too much to tell.
After our horseback riding with Lilly we were so facinated, that we went on another ride with Aquilino a real gaucho.
Before we left for a 3 day ride, we stayed two nights at Aquilinos House, for which you have to cross the Rio Naef with a boat.
Just a few minutes walking distance away, the beautiful confluencia of the Rio Baker and the Rio Naef.
While we were enjoying the view of the Rio Baker and the Mountains, Aquilino and his son José prepared our four companions.
The first test for the horses was to swim through the Rio Naef before we could start the new adventure.
After that it didn't get easier..
Steep declines with loose rocks made it difficult for us to stay in the saddles.
We had to cross the Rio Naef a few times. Unfortunatly, my horse had a bit shorter legs so my feets didn't stay dry.
This was our basecamp for the two nights. In this house Aquilino lived before he met his wife.
On the second day it got even worse. After hours in the rain and wind it started snowing. The horses slipped a lot on the wet rocks and it got really dangerous, so we decided, 2 hours before we reached the final glaciers, to turn arround to the basecamp.
On the way back we got attacked by a swarm of insects. Aquilino fell from his horse and our horses jumped down some slippery rocks. We were glad that we could hold us in our saddles.
After this wet day we had to get us warm again, with Mate and a big fire in the oven.
Pascal get used to Mate
After the third day of riding we were happy that we still had all our bodies.
From there our way wasn't that spectacular. We took again the Carretera Austral to go north and did some small detours to Volcanos and National Parks... the pictures will follow.
Nice Pic and a great Trip with horses in the nature.
Beautiful pictures and ride report. Signed up for updates.
If you're speaking about the camera I'd be interested to know too.
A truly brillant ride report, with world class photos of a fantastic adventure. Absolutely one of the best ride reports ever posted.
In 40 years, the two of you will look back on your travels as one of the most remarkable highlights of your life.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share.
The time runs fast from the Carretera Austral we went up to Puerto Mont again and to the volcano Osorno
We had already booked the flight back to Switzerland, but still a few days left until we had to give up our motorbikes at the port of Valparaiso. And so we spent some days in front of the volcano Llaima.
The last days in Valparaiso passed quickly and we had to send our motorcycles to the next trip.
That was over two months ago. We arrived at the 13th march in zurich at the airport and since then we were busy getting back to life. We had already found a new apartment on the way and had to control our stored furniture and also the work did not wait. I already had during the travel application talks and had to start immediately when we arrived at home and pascal could go back to his old job.
And now a few days ago our bikes also made it back home...
they now ned a lot of love so we can run them again in our next holidays.
And that was how they looked bevor we started and hopefully again when we groomed them
Our next trip will be durring the summer holidays in Spain.
Pascal & Janine,
Thank you both for sharing your amazing adventure. The pictures and the writing were truly fantastic. I definitely plan on taking a trip south and will have to try to do it sooner than later!
I wish you both much happiness and safe travels with your future endeavors.
Great ride and great report.
