Three day Ticket for Catalunya MotoGP. Covered grandstand I on last turn to front straight. Unfortunately I am not going to get to Barcelona this time. Send me a PM with an offer if you can use it. Cost me 106 Euros a couple of months ago. Looks like the weather is going to be great. Wish I could make it.

    2010 KTM 990 Adv R (Sold Feb 2017!)

    [I

    MG][IMG]image hosting[/IMG]

Lots of detail below but bear with me…its worth reading through it.

2010-11 model so this is the model with the serious 265mm suspension travel. For the long legged or the committed! (later models had 20mm less travel , a sort of ‘half-way house’ to the standard forks)

Only 9957 miles, 2 owners incl me.• First Reg March 2010
    • All dealer serviced except one oil change (last service Oct 2015 @ 8335 miles) MOT till 29/04/17
    • Dealer bag, handbook and service book, 2 keys and master key.
    • Full tool kit (incl OEM spark plug tool, helmet strap and bottle opener!!)

Long list of extras fitted include• Akropovic exhaust slip ons
    • Rade Garage EVO6 c/f rally screen (taller and better shape for wind protection and gives somewhere nice and easy to stow your gloves at toll barriers and petrol stations)
    • GIT sump guard/bashplate
    • SW Motech crash bars (sturdier than KTM OEM)
    • Cycra Pro hand guards
    • RallyConnex rally riser 2 inch bar risers
    • RHS mirror relocator (saves brake bracket in case of falls!)
    • Foldable mirrors (great for green laning and also when putting bike cover on)
    • LED running lights and HID conversion on low beam (uses old style 990 switch to give you a sidelight/running light option)
    • Acrylic headlight protector (protection)
    • KTM OEM billet clutch cover
    • KTM OEM billet orange anodised master cylinder covers (clutch and 2 X brake)
    • Oberon Clutch master cylinder (smoother action and more reliable)
    • ‘Black Dog ‘ large rear rack (to replace the useless original!)
    • Front axle puller
    • G" throttle cam
    Heated grips
    • Fork air bleed valves
    • Modified gear position switch (OEM model cuts revs in 3rd gear to pass noise tests)
    • ‘Hammerhead’ gear selector lever (ideal if you have size 10 or larger boots)
    • Standard and ‘R’ sprocket covers (standard is cleaner for road usage)
    • Rear pannier racks and KTM OEM panniers
    • Remote ‘mode switch’ on LH bar (avoids need to prod the dash buttons, keeps hand on bar)
    • Sidestand relocation plate by ‘Charlie’ to avoid cracked crankcase syndrome

Also both header pipes were sent for coating at Zircotec www.zircotek.co.uk at great cost. Greatly reduces heat loss to make summer riding a bit more bearable but also gives petrol tanks an easier time and in theory should also help exhaust performance . This is not a cheap thermal coating but the same stuff F1 teams use.

These extras cost over £2000 excluding the panniers and mounting racks

    • Fitted with good Conti Trail attacks
    • Bike has ‘Crispy Designs’ graphics on to protect paint and which I think brighten the bike up but gentle heat from a heat gun should allow this to be peeled off if you don’t think alike.
    • Original exhausts (unmarked, as they were changed out before 1st delivery) will come with the bike along with original screen.

    Disclaimers:
Wheel spokes are flaking their chrome along with 95% of all 990 adventures. I live with it.

The bash plate, engine and hand guards have a few scrapes on them. These were virtually all from when fitted to my earlier 990 and show that a) I enjoyed myself a lot and b) that the 900 crashed really well. If you want a bike to roll down a mountainside with a very good probability it will be all OK at the bottom then this is it!! Seriously though this bike has been offroad twice only and the only damage is an additional scuff to a handguard and a couple of stress cracks in the coating of the CF screen from a couple of low speeds falls (with the 265mm suspension its best not to make unplanned stops offroad without a solid footing!)

I had my previous 990 for 6 years and loved it , toured, scratched, commuted (when sunny!) green laned and did a few rallies. Definitely the best all rounder I’ve ever ridden. Loved it so much that when I sold it I bought this R Model intending to do more of the same.

Unfortunately job moves and a couple of niggly injuries and (as folks keep reminding me) advancing years means I just haven’t used it anything like as much as I would have hoped, so am now reluctantly deciding to sell . Not sure if I’ll get back on the dirt again but if so will probably be on something smaller (only an idiot starts his dirt riding education on a 990 …. OOOOPs!!) I have loved the camaraderie of dirt riding on trails and rallies and will miss it I’m sure but……..

The 1190/1290 are awesome bikes but they are not a replacement for the 9*0. It’s a bike we shall probably never see the like off again true ‘Dakar DNA’

In summary a great bike fully kitted up to give it even more potential.

Looking for £6450 incl the luggage.

(can email full set photos if you PM me)

Note that if you want this to go green laning or rallying I have a spare set of wheels:
Excel Rims/Talon hubs (latter in VGC) . Mefo front and OEM discs, rear Mefo plus disc, sprocket carrier, Stealth 45T sprocket and spacers for 990 and 950 Enduro use. Will give bike purchaser first option @£600.

You got second dibs Loz of 4!
More interest in the wheels than the bike.
I have one earlier interested party via UK KTM forum for the wheels.
Will still be a couple of weeks before I can be certain as I want to offer to anyone buying the bike first
