Or road rally's (or whatever they call them). If you're a gear head these are the bomb (and can you imagine the chances of getting one of these off the ground in the U.S. :rolleyes ).

It's amazing to me just how exotic some of these cars are :drif

I worked the "Climb to the Clouds" event at Mt Washington NH. It is not as exotic, but pretty impressive none the less.

    :thumb Nice!

Here's some unexotic weekend warriors. I love seeing the old Opel's and Bimmers (and how hard is it to run a popping and bangin' Subu that's built for the task :deal )

And what's more "exotic" than a brilliantly executed bulgarian replica of the might Audi "short wheelbase" Quattro B-rally car? :deal

On that Audi, Walther Röhrl will race in this years Pikes Peak on another german replica of the Audi S1 he won the Pikes Peak 25 years ago. nice video, especially für Deitschsprachige: http://youtu.be/VBx7YQ_caKk

Hillclimb and road rallies (tarmack rallies) are a different thing. Hillclimbs are raced in very short sections, rally otherwise have longers sections (up to 50kms sometimes) and several different sections are run every race day. The biggest difference is obviously that hillclimb is raced by the driver alone and in rally the driver has a co-driver telling him the notes on what the next corner will look like.

Another Ferrari, this time in rally configuration.

Exhotics are slower than normal rally car though. The fastest ever are probably the end 90's FWD Kit Car's.

There was a paved hillclimb for a few years at Donner Ski Ranch. There will be one this summer (July 21/22) at Virginia City, Nevada during the SupermotoUSA race weekend.

I seem to remember that back when I was entering the occasional sm race and attended Donner. Somehow I missed the hill climb :scratch
