    aka, The Other SMIB ride.

This trip was initially set for the month of July, 2012. Due to a family medical problem, Lonestar has had to postpone the trip and I am doing the same. And, since we now have a lot more time to plan, we will set the dates around the "Dust to Dawson" so we can take part in that too. According to Motoquest website, the 2013 DtoD runs between 18 and 29 June. The delay will be better for me too as I am still recovering from extensive back surgery and probably won't be 100% by 30 June.

Now that that's done, on with the scheduled programing!

Nothing is set up yet other than the fact that the Muffynmonster (my daughter) are going to head west and meet with Lonestar2112 in Great Falls, Montana and head north - June/July. LS will be bringing a friend from CA and I will be picking up a friend of mine from MN on the way out.

27 Oct - Dates are tentatively set. I expect to leave VA on or about 1 June - probably with whatever SMIBS, Cat Herders, Bullwinkle Death Riders and assorted hangers on are riding out to CDT - or go to Alaska. Tentative plan is to meet Lonestar2112 in Great Falls and head north.

I thought you were going to head out with the SMIB crew and then depart them in NM. That is why I picked the 1st, I figured it would take 3 days to get to NM and I wiul meet up around the 2/3rd of July.

I had thought about it and may still do so. I am also flexible enough with time that I can leave earlier. I figure if I list that in the first post though that it would give any one else interested some options.

I'm trying to clean up a mess right now and I haven't had time to clean up the first few posts. Hope to do so later this evening.

I am not opposed to meeting up north and shave some days on the front to have more days further north. I am easy, just not cheap. :lol3

6, how much time do you want to spend in Canada and AK? Do you want to sprint from Albuquerque to MT and then slow down the pace? I am working on the routes in AK. I will post up ideas and we'll see what flies!

I've got time that you don't so we have to fit your schedule. Now, having said that, I love Montana (especially), Wyoming and Idaho and I haven't been back there since 1987 so I'm in no hurry to haul through there. I can easily do 400 mile days on either bike and once I replace the seat(s) I can extend that to 600 or better. I want to move slow enough to enjoy it and take lots of pictures but fast enough to get everything in. I've never been to that part of Canada and I'm looking forward to it. Alaska, for me, was a 2 hour layover on the way to Viet Nam so I want to spend more time up there.

So, long story short, we can move through the Rockys as fast as needed (especially since we'll wind up back there next year!) and then take more time going through Canada and Alaska.

    Make sense?

BTW, I'll be somewhat sporadic in posting for the next two weeks. The tree guys are removing the oak from the house and next week I am working the Fallen Brethren 3 Gun match. I'll have net access but I may not be able to respond very quickly.
