I just wanted to say "thanks" for all the great responses.
Love the historical ride reports. Keep them coming.
Loved the repot, keep it up!!
Great report as usual....
I'll have to visit Blockton and see this, I now live in Alabaster.
I remember studying these areas in college years ago. It would be great if mines could be saved for history like so many other sites. They just dont get the respect they deserve. Those old mines grew our country. Good job. BTW my great grandfather died in a coal mine explosion in Trinidad, Colorado. I am trying to find out more about him now that I have more time in my life.
Time to return to this location. More to find.....
Great report, thanks.
I was all around it today (I think). Rode 2 up with my youngest son
I live pretty close to Marvel, Great place to explore!
Thanks for the report. Great pictures, new and old. I like to explore places like this too. I want to see as much as I can, before it dissapears.
Apologies for dredging up this ancient post, but I wondered if you have any of these photos on another site somewhere? The history is fascinating, would love to see some photos to go along with the text.
Are there any active steel mills left in Alabama?
I'm also interested in this. I go back from time to time and reread these awesome threads of DeBandi's. I miss the history and the way it was presented. I hate to see them lost. The rides with history are some of my favorite threads.
