    Yep!

There is a short section of the HCT that is the only place in MS that I have seen large rocks in the ground. There are a few houses that use them in their yards and some just on the side of the road. Very out of place for Mississippi!

It was getting hot, my camelback was low, so KW and I soon hit the Natchez Trace and headed South! It was a good ride, just a little WARM!! :lol3

Thanks for following me around guys!

Before it became clear that you were on the HCT, I saw your pic of West, MS, and said "I know that place!" My grandson and I did the HCT over Memorial Day and stopped in West. I thought I'd just get some insurance gas, but the only place in town was out. Had plenty of liquor, though. Great post. Looks like it was very hot - comes with the territory down here.

Yea, HCT will test you with heat and dust (and Kudzu)! There are several little places like West, Ethel, etc. where you may or may not find a store...
it takes a full day to do it all in daylight, but summer is too hot. Winter daylight is short. Fall you have hunters everywhere. Spring means rain and mud. Sometimes you just gotta go! :D

Seems I have been too busy or had too much going on to ride much lately...

Don't know why I've been so busy:

So Saturday I decided I had to get out and ride!!! Rolled the KLR out and hit the road and stopped to pick up a TAG:

I had to put the TAG back out of course and I wanted to find somewhere obscure, like an abandoned train trestle
    [IMG]

Had to stop to fill my tank, and fill my belly
    [IMG]

I was having such a blast I had to keep riding, chasing sunset pics...

My plans for today were cancelled at 10PM last night. So I got up early this morning and road the Wee to Heart & Soul to meet the breakfast crew.

After breakfast, everyone headed in different directions, so I headed to "The Kickstand", our local motorcycle shop / social center of local motorcycle world. :lol3

While wandering around the shop and trying to think of somewhere to ride, i realized I was already at a cool destination. The owners of the Kickstand not only support our local ADV Rally, but offer discount to ADV members. Tires, gear, accessories, etc. But most of all, the Kickstand is a living museum of dirt bike history. There is old bikes, helmets, posters, goggles, ads, signs, and all kinds of memorabilia around. If you are ever passing through Jackson, MS, be sure to stop by The Kickstand and tell Lee you heard about his shop on ADV and get him to show you around...

This past weekend, October 19-21, was our 4th annual "(don't) Fall Rally" by the MS Adventure Riders and somehow I ended up being the Chief Cat herder for the event. I also got to lead a dualsport ride through Backwoods, MS! :clap

This rally included miles and miles of single track / enduro trails, a grass track at the rally site, and extended day rides off property. What more can a rally ask for?!?! :freaky

Some of these are my photos and some are from other attendees...

So the plan was to meet Saturday morning at 8AM at Heart & Soul Cafe for a MS River Loop. I just picked up a 2013 Triumph Tiger 800XC and got the 500 mile service done last week, so this would be my first foray into the unpaved world with it. It also happened to be 36 degrees when I left my house. I met up with DavidQ, Kingsize, and Knightwork at H&S. Kingsize had a route to go across the river at Vicksburg to Delta, LA and follow the levee down as much as we could to Vidallia. Then have a lunch stop in Natchez, MS and follow my route from Natchez back to home. At least that was the plan...

After breakfast, we hit I-20 West and headed for the river. It was a bit chilly. Stopped at Delta, LA exit and topped of out tanks. At least the non BMW tanker sized tanks...

We hit the gravel right behind the gas station and started for the levee.
I forgot to get my camera out of my tank bag until we were already moving on the levee.

We ran into a few gates and hat to jump off the levees and back on the border roads from time to time.
DQ checked out this bridge that was on our maps leading back onto the levee but it was gated.

Highways were flat and mostly straight through the delta farm communities
    [IMG]

We could see the levees, but had to find the right points to enter and exit to avoid gates

Passed a few historical markers, this one for some of the Davis families property.

DQ went to check out the scenery, also..

We headed to Fat Mama's Tamales for lunch, and thanks to the cold temperatures, was mostly devoid of the chrome covered pirate riders... :lol3

After lunch we did a loop through "Natchez Under the Hill"

And proceeded on my route from Natchez headed back north to Brandon, MS...

I followed some new roads I found on Google Maps and we hit some hilly, curvy roads of paved and gravel construction. Went through a few farm roads and more.

Turned down a gravel road that looked nice and curvy on the map. I got a bit ahead of everyone, so I pulled over to wait...

Turned around and waited with camera ready for other riders to come around corner...

    And waited... more to come...
