    Hey Rick...

Sent you a pm a while back (while you were gone...) probably got buried.

I would like to put myself on the list for a rear brake res cover for my Dak.

Would like more of your stuff, but I just don't have the right bike!!! Would love a rear mounting plate but I have an 03. Would love a center stand skid, but I have Dakar!!!

What up man? You got sumthin' against old Daks?!?!??!?!?!?!?! :rofl

If you think you could have them out by first of October, I will be your bestest friend. :freaky

Got any other plans for skids that will OF COURSE fit an old dak??? Chain guard... hint hint hint.

You'd never know how many '03 Dakar owners there are on ADV...until Kildala offers a farkle that only fits '05 and later bikes :lol3

Hi Rick :waveI'd be in for an '03 Dakar version, too...it would nicely complement my sweet Kildala skid plate

Rick, muchas gracias for a GREAT product:clap

Installed my rack in less than ten minutes and entrusted it to transporting my laptop to work this morning. Can't wait to strap on my dry bag for a weekend trip.

Make that nine... My brake reservoir guard is getting lonely.

Actually, I'd like mine to be wide enough to offer good support to my large BMW soft tailbag. It kinda droops down at the sides.

The F650 with a 15T front sprocket is great off road, but uses more fuel. So I needed an auxiliary system. I put together the Kidala rack extension with a Kolpin Jr. tank system. It takes some surgery on both racks. Moreover, not only can one not weld aluminium to steel, but when the two metals are in contact and wet it can cause a failure due to the chemical reaction between dissimilar metal. In short - its all physics and things will vibrate loose real fast.

I think I have solved the problem by inserting a cork layer between the aluminium and the steel Korbin bracket. I used 1/4 X 3/4 in flathead zink screws - lots of them. I also had to cut out a part of the Kolpin bracket so it would not ride on top of the plastic rear tie down loop on the BMW. But it does work.

The installation I show is "spingy". One can reverse it so the gas can sits over the rack. I solved "springy" by simply running a bungy over the load ( not shown ) and securing the gas tank handle.

Backside of the piece - note cutout and cork spacer. Cork is just automotive gasket sheet.

I wish I was better downloading pictures. But This is what things look like when complete. The yellow is just metal marker pen used by welders to mark the mid line on the project.

I am going to send all my pictures to Rick so he can send them to anyone interested in a similar install. The Kolpin Tank and Bracket costs about $84 US. I bought it at Cabela's in Omaha, not online because I could actually look at the parts before I put out so much cash for this project.

    Hey Rick;
Sounds like you had a great holiday. You know, everytime I see one of those blue and white Dakars I think of you and yours. Hope the foot is doing well. (and the rest, of course).
IdeaWife just went out and bought a 2004 F650GS.
