F 650GS crossing water

    How deep can we tread over the river?
    I notice that air intake about 8" below handle bar, is that the optimal depth?


    If the intake is routed to a higher location (much like the concept of "Safari" snorkle), would the airbox hold? Anything else to be careful about?

    You can go pretty deep, but there's a point where the water starts to provide a great deal of resistance. Personally, I'd put a soft limit at the height of the front wheel and go above that only on a case by case basis.

    I'm surprised no one's linked that video of an F800GS doing a water crossing where the water almost came up to the seat.
