Has anyone had problems with the rims not holding up on your bike?
The dealer bent mine putting a TKC on it and told me I bent it...:poser

After talking to Woody....the rim guru....he said their junk.

Look at how their is a bend on each inside spoke on the front rim by the hub....:eek1 Not a good idea. And to go on Bher rims suckola...I raced a KTM
Supermoto last season with Bher's on it and they sucked...had to replace with excel hoops. For the price we are paying for these bikes the rims should hold up to normal riding....and they dont. I think at the least the rims need to be safe, and I dont get a warm fuzzy feeling after looking closely at it.....so off to Woody they go. Lets ban together and make BMW do something about it.

What kind of turn around time did Woody give you? I might just do the same thing next time I have to take a long trip. I have had no issues with the OEM rims yet, but I would like to go 18" on the rear, and I might as well go Excel on the front as well.

I doubt BMW will do anything even if there is an issue, and I don't have an opinion on that one way or the other.

They do it all the time on airliners when the line at the bathroom gets too long. Makes the stews nervous I guess.

That is a good idea. Has it been done yet? Enough room/clearance for the extra 1/2" at the front of the swing arm?

EDIT - Just looked and there is a couple inches of clearance there, should work well. Be nice to be able to use a set of Pirelli's eh?

I just was quoted $470/wheel w/ Sun rims and stainless spokes & nipples from Buchanan's.
Turn around was quoted @ 2 days.
This was for a 2.15x21" front and a 3.50x18" rear.
    It's on my list.

They (Buchanan's) felt pretty certain they wouldn't have to butcher the hubs. Easy to return to stock.

Define "normal riding"? I haven't had any problems so far, but I've only gone 6k miles, mostly on-road.

FWIW, I kinda hope I taco my front rim at some point. I have no other way to convince the financial committee that I need a 19" front hoop. :norton

Thx. I have him (Woody) looking for hubs for me, but so far no luck. I guess I'll have to sacrifice the OEM wheels. I'll probably wait until one of them becomes unserviceable before doing anything.

Yeah, I want Woody to get rich. It works for us all.

I dinged mine in Saline valley, during the noob's ralley. Not sure which suspect rock did it, they all looked alike. When the wheels are completely square it will be time to replace.

Well in this part of the country...New Mexico Southwest Woody's Wheel Works is THE place to go. I am concerned about the saftey of a rim that only half the spokes are doing their job...thats why I am taking measures to get it fixed. I ride fast off road with a full load.

Why would you want a 19" on it?

That goes against the design criteria of the bike!!

I am lusting after tubless rims for this beast. Is anyone exploring that aftermarket option? I would love some details.
