I hope they have a better go of it than Dallas did with their Cotton Bowl parking lot come to pieces crumbly piece of shit circuit. I was there. THEY were there...Senna, Mansell, Lauda, Piquet, Rosberg, Prost. The track didn't last 20 laps.
Still, I hope this happens. Long but managable drive for me, I'd do it.

If you're bored, here's my take on the first try 24 years ago.

I'd rather see a GP race come to Chicago and happen on Lake Shore + some city streets around Lincoln Park.

But, **if** it happens in Austin, you can bet your ass I will go. :bow

I'm curious as to why everyone seems to think this can't happen. The biggest issue I see is preparing a facility on such a short timeline, but the money is there. Bernie Ecclestone didn't get to be weathiest man in the UK (self-made at that) because he's a fool.

History has taught us to only believe an F1 race is coming to a new location when the cars are actually ON the track. Case in point, the British GP was meant to be going to Donnington for the next 10 years and look what happened to that.

I still laugh when I see this thread... I lived in Austin while attending UT many years ago and I can barely remember when a sport outside of football was mentioned; NCAA Runnin' Horns possibly. I would have never thought F1 would goto Texas, let alone Austin.

I am really interested to see how this works...
