Hi all, just a quick question - I discovered this on the ripo road in Southern Argentina

worked out it was the Coolant Temperature Sensor but it doesn't want to go back on. I had a hose clamp and duct tape and have attached it back, it seems the fan is on now more than usual but other than that it seems ok. Should i be worried?

    Any advice?

I am trying to make the run to Ushuaia and have 2 weeks before I finish my trip in Buenos Aries. fingers crossed I make it!

If possible, go to the Chain Gang site it maybe called F650. I have a 03 F650 and if that happened to me, I would find a fix.

Newby, have info on that sensor online http://www.f650gs.crossroadz.com.au/EngineSensors.html

It is also used a a large No of BMW cars & possibly other cars so should be able to pick up a replacement locally

If it does not leak fluid from the engine and the fan is working when it is in place then you should be OK to carry on, you two seem to be good at that

Thanks for your advice WayneC1. Though strange after 10 months on the road to still be classed a 'Newby', but learning more everyday until we die; or else I 'spouse you are dead already. Will add some JB weld to the mix and keep my eye out for a place that might sell the part or just the bracket. I hear Puntas Arenas is good.

Eh, it was a busy morning, I had not had a beer and you know we cant function down under until after the sun is over the yard arm and then after that we hit the wrong keys anyway for obvious reasons. The big news is they had 50mm of rain at Cobar, now thats big

No probs, glad to hear of the rain. My parents have breathed a sigh of relief and say that the grass even has a tinge if green again.
