I have about an 1/2 inch "play" in my throttle on my new 650 GS...It is quite irritating and somewhat dangerous..I put a new pair of Barkbuster guards on it but I am not sure if it was there before that or if it is a result of it..Any ideas as to how to take the "play" out of the grip ?? bj

By 'play' do you mean the entire throttle assembly rotates or do you have no throttle response within the first half-inch of opening the throttle?

If it's the latter, you may need to tighten up the slack in your throttle cable to fix your woes. Just be sure to check that you don't get inadvertent revving while moving the handlebars lock-to-lock.

The grip turns about 1/4 to 1/2 inch.. before anything happens ..I don't think it is the cable..it is like the handle is loose..bj

Sounds like the cable has some slack in it. The adjuster is right under the switch pod. It has a little knurled nut on so you don't even need any tools. Tighten it up a little bit at a time and make sure there's a little bit of play still when you turn the bars all the way left and right.
