For those of you that owne an F800GS is riding it 1200 miles in two days possible? I have the opportunity to demo a 09 F800GS for a weekend and you can see from the list of my current bikes that this is alittle different and the bike has appealed to me. Im not currently in the position to purchase one but would still love to ride one and Im thinking whats not a better time than on the biggest road trip Ive ever done? So with a sore ass is it doable?

Get a Sargent! I regularly do Las Vegas to San Diego and back again in one weekend (390 miles via the scenic route). Anyway I haven't done that trip since I got my Sargent saddle a few weeks ago but I have no doubt it would be immensely easier. This weekend we are heading up to Pine Valley Utah to check out some potential camping spots so I'll post up how it goes.

I have no doubt it will be like sitting on the face of an angel!

Since you've owned mostly dirt bikes you should be good to go. Earplugs or ER6 or Shure or even some cheap Koss headphones to keep the wind drone toned down.

I rode an F650 Dakar 2600 miles in 2.5 days and a few weeks later rode it another 7000 in 8 more days it was stock except for an Airhawk seat cushion. Up until then the longest trip I had done was about 300 miles.

I once heard a distance rider say all there was to distance riding was "sit here and turn that" he pointed at the seat and the throttle. If you like motorcycles and are in decent shape (even if you're not but I think it makes a difference) its really not that hard.

Dress for success :rofl and have a good time.

I couldn't do it on an "un-enhanced" stock seat, but I have a lot of padding where it counts .... :rofl

Since it's not your bike (yet) you'd maybe want to go for some add-on comfort enhancer ... air-hawk ... bead-rider ... queen-size air mattress :lol3

Go for the ride....enjoy the power....oh did anyone mention the "seat" ???
Get a foam seat pad...even a cheap ATV Pad from Walmart will help.

I put a Sargent Seat on my F800 and my Ass thanks me everyday !

    Have fun !!!!!!!

I did 900 miles in one day with the low stock seat. Went from Devils Tower WY to Madison WI. Yeah my ass hurt a little but it was a long day in the saddle.

Gone from Brooklyn NY to Traverse City MI (about 860 miles) in one day. I don't have an Airhawk yet but it will be there next time I plan on riding anything close to that distance. I also use a Throttle Rocker and have a Laminar Lip, along with standard earplugs, etc. While not a plush ride, and leaving me ready for bed at the end of the day, it was all do-able.

    Enjoy

I can't imagine anyone making any changes to a "demo bike" so I won't mention the great Sargent seat switch.

I got my f800 GS on Memorial Day weekend and had to limit my riding to just 600 miles because of the first warranty check. I was waiting at the dealer when they opened on the Tuesday AFTER the holiday weekend.

My face hurt from smiling so much, but the upright seating and comfort made for a great ride. I think 600 miles could be done in one day!

I just did 1600 miles in two days on my F800GS. It was 15 ours going there and 16 hours the way back. From Portland to Sun Valley and back. No highway and all of the good roads through the middle of Oregon (twistie central). Epic ride.
    Bike did well.
