We ended up turning around and the F8 took a nap on the way back out. Carl is on a 1200GS and i'm on an F8 - my original music selection was muted by youtube so i had to select something from the youtube list. oh vey.

An easy dual sport ride over Buffalo Pass Colorado - starting from the Walden side over to Steamboat Springs - this is just a portion of a 450 mile mixed dirt roads/pavement loop that we rode that day on our F650GSs - a great ride!

Just a quickie of me riding Yosemite Valley (OK, "riding" may be a bit generous), my mind wandering, on busy day in the park.

Are you sitting down most of the time? Teach me how not to fall off the GS like that. Great video.

    Thanks :D

Yes, I am sitting much of the time but definitely standing when it get hairy. I find I sit more on ascents and stand consistently on descents. The secret to using the GS on this terrain is to keep your body loose and let the big bike move even if you are seated. Use your momentum and trust the bike... and practice! :D

love the GPS aspect of the Contour but I wonder if You Tube or any other host will be able to read the GPS map too? I just upgraded to a Contour + for only shipping costs. Traded my GPS unit in because I really wanted the external mic. just have to go by a mic now but they are cheap.

I always edit my videos and because of that you lose the GPS map...I also wonder if that can be fixed to work with editing...Love to ride that pass one day!

    See here for more info

I don't know if anything has changed but FCP used to be able to edit the video without killing the metadata. I have no idea if FCPX will or not. If I get time I'll give it a test this weekend. If you are using windows there are a couple of options in the link above that might help. I think there are a couple of other threads on Contour's forums that talk about exporting the text track (aka gps info) and later importing. No idea how they sync up the edited data.

As for Youtube, your screwed. Same with Vimeo. If you want to keep the map while using a online site, uploading via Storyteller is the only solution that I am aware of.

Traded my GPS for a + a couple of months ago. I love the + Been using my Bose iPhone earphones as the mic but need something better for under the helmet.

great info...I just got the + too...was able to trade my GPS model and upgrade for free...not sure why but good deal for me. I ordered this mic

    https://www.amazon.ca/Technica-ATR-...9PTO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1314846010&sr=8-1

but I only paid $40 CDN...

did a test run today and just going to split the video because I almost recorded my whole commute home and need to cut it down...nice video quality and I can not wait to try out the mic in my helmet. Too bad we did not have this for our last 44 day trip we just got back from. I got the offer but we were all ready on the road. Better late then never!

I'll be watching your Youtube channel for some samples with that mic. Very interested. Yeah it's too bad no AK videos with the + but you'll have it for the next adventure.

because we need some time to save money for the next BIG adventure...we will most likely ride the Washington and Oregon Back Country routes next year! Contour + video test being loaded on the Contour site and I'll make a test for the Tube.
