Most importantly, always ride a rental.

The one thing I have learned from reading many ride reports on Faribanks to Deadhorse is, "It all depends on the weather".. Is it possible to make a game day decision to stay at the Prudhoe bay hotel or do they sell out and require a reservation? I would hate to drag in there in the evening after some bad weather only to find out they have no vacancy then have to ride down to Wiseman or Coldfoot for the evening.

I would make a reservation. During riding season they book up fast. They also have full time residents who work up there. I wouldn't chance it. If the weather is great the ride will be easy but you are pretty much guaranteed some rain especially through Atigun Pass.

Why stay at the Prudhoe Bay Hotel? There are 5 other camps here with plenty of rooms.

I stayed at The Aurora on Aug 19. All the hotels in town seemed to have room, as I called a few of them to inquire. One of the best things about my 7,300 mile ride was finding ahi tuna poke at The Aurora for dinner :)

As long as the price of crude is down you'll always find a room from what the workers up there told me last time.
