I know this is late in the game, but I've had a lot of inquiries regarding if we're putting on a Fall 2013 RedNEK Rendezvous. The answer is that a group that will be camping and riding from either Brighton State Park or Maidstone State Park the first weekend in October, the 4th, 5th, and 6th. I am leaning toward Brighton simply because there are restaurants and gas within a mile of the park. Maidstone is far more remote, and we would need to make special arrangements, as it officially closes Labor Day. On the upside, Maidstone has a log pavilion that is capable of seating 60.

Both parks have shelters, which I feel are necessary for an event of this nature. Many will remember the rains (and brilliant foliage) accompanying the Fall 2012 RedNEK. As I'm just back from Newfoundland, I feel I've done sufficient camping in a wet tent for this season.

Because of workload, we will not be offering the meals that were such a feature for the Spring 2013. Ms. Barb is working full time and taking college classes. It is hoped that we'll be able to do the full presentation again for the Spring 2014 RedNEK.

So, at this juncture, it would be a show up, BS, ride, and feed yourself event. It's far enough after CroMag that most of you should have recovered.

Chime in if you wish to attend.

I'd like nothing better, Tim. But I have to ask about the difficulty of the rides. I've been into dirt riding for just a couple of years and I'm older than the average bear. So, to be blunt, will the hero sections have pussy sections (aka ridearounds)? I wish I had half the capability of my WR.

Yes. All hero sections are optional. There's a gutty small bike track that I put together for for the Spring 2013 that was never used. Anton (AtlasEXP) will probably go out on that one with interested parties, and I'm hoping that Guymanbro will show to show us how it's done, Samoan style. Personally, I'm looking forward to riding with Ms. Barb (inmate Barbsironbutt.) I haven't had the opportunity to ride with her nearly enough this summer. The basic route tends to be relatively mellow gravel roads through beautiful scenery, which is what she's up for just now. She's been suffering a shoulder injury, and isn't up for blood and guts.

Im on the fence on which bike to bring. If Anton and GMB want to do skinny bikes, I could bring mine up.

Anton's on the DRZ. It's his only option. GMB, should he grace us with his presence, rides just about anything the same way - WFO. We rode with him when the only thing he could field was his KLR. Scary!

The heart is in, hopefully, the body is able to follow. I have a wedding in VA the previous weekend, so it will depend on whether I can get my homework done and my bike prepped in time. I'll likely have to work Saturday, so I would be a late arrival at the very least. One last night in the woods listening to the adventures of great riding friends would be a pleasure!

    Fingers crossed!

Can't say I won't and won't say I can't, but if I can I will... anything is possible. :D If I do, I'd like to reride and finish the "small bike" ride with Anton and crew for one of the days.

I have Color in the Catskills penciled in for that same time slot. I haven't worked out the logistics of that event yet, but its been on the "attend list" for a few years. Also, its peak foliage in the northern 'daks then and family is slated to come up... its a long haul for them and they may opt out later this month. So, its a wait and see for me....

That's one thing I like about you Rich -- you don't beat about the bush -- you just ride straight through it.

That is a worthy undertaking I'd like to do myself.

You could pick up that memory stick I prepped for you, Ted. It's still adrift on my desk here somewhere. (Sorry!)

No worries, I haven't run out of stuff to ride yet!

Maybe I'll loop up one afternoon if you're around.

Likewise. I though I might see you at the DARCV. But maybe we'll get a chance to finish the loop in the kingdom!

Well, the family visit is now on another weekend, so I could make it up for that ride. I am leaning a heavy steer though into the Catskill event/rides.
I was going to attend DARC V, but burned some fingers a couple of days before and needed time to heal up. All good now and I'm riding the Berkshire Triple this weekend - finally. :clap

I'm in. (Just missed you guys in Newfoundland. We spent the majority of our time hiking in Gros Morn. Awesome!)

Yes, it's a fantastic place up there. I can imagine the backcountry around Gros Morne is mind-blowing. We'll keep the light on for ya, Steve.
