Purchased the bike about a month ago and have been bolting on stuff ever since.

Altrider: skid plate, crash bars, luggage rack and side stand foot
Touratech: touring seat & headlight guard
BMW: vario side cases, hand guards
    Akrapovich: slip on
    Cee Bailey" sport shield
    Cobra Heat: radiator guard
    Givi monokey: trekker top case
    Wunderlich: adjustable gear lever
    Puig: hugger/chain guard
    Fastway: foot pegs
    Grip puppies

Still on the list is auxillary lighting and a gps plus whatever else I haven't thought of.

    Nice!

Look up highway dirt bikes and that top clamp they have. You can get in two more powerlet outlets in there, and then you can get the RAM mounts from GPS city too.

    Thanks for the compliments.

The seat is the "low" version and after a couple of hundred break-in miles it is all day comfortable.

Nice bike, love the color. You need to add some dirt though - too shiny ;-)

How does the grip puppies work with the heated grips?
Considering installing a pair but have a lot of cold weather riding and dont want to freeze my fingers more than necessary..

The heat travels right through the grip puppies, still haven't had it past level 1.

As for the dirt, I begin my training this Saturday with EarthRiders and am already signed up for the Rawhyde course end of April. I'm guessing I'll be adding knobbies shortly afterwards.

What part of April and where are you coming from? I am going to be down there the 19th - 21st.

I'm going the same weekend. Judging by your avatar I may be in way over my head. See you there.

Nice bike and good colour choice (I got the same). Was the Akrapovich worth the $$? hows the sound and any extra power?
    Thanks

Had the Akra on mine. No noticeable power bump, but the sound, oh the glorious sound. The stock can sounds like an asthmatic bubble maker, and the Akra is much meaner and "growlier", without getting into the obnoxious and antisocial realm. :ear

Not to mention the stock looks like BMW found some spare stove pipes lying around and decided to make an exhaust from them. The weight difference between the two is also significant.

Is it worth it? Probably not, but then again buying a bike and farkling it isn't always an exercise in rational choices.

There are other cheaper options on the market, but none as sexy as the Akra (although the MIVV range does come close).

Utube has plenty of sound clips to entertain yourself with.

I live in Thousand Oaks which is only about 1 hour away from the ranch.

If you're down here on a bike I'm only about 15 minutes from the world famous Rock Store and know some great roads through the Santa Monica mountains.

I'm coming down from Washington and I start my new job Monday so I was lucky enough to be able to get a few days off to ride down and back. I am sure I will be back when I rack up some vacation time.
