Hey Ferris!!! I've been riding (reading) along. Great adventure and we need to catch up in person soon. Crazy year for us and Oct is pretty crazy too. Let's plan for an early Nov meet up at out usual place, if the weather holds...

We watched the eclipse up on Langlois Mountain; we had the place to ourselves. Denise packed a picnic breakfast; yum! The air was a little smoky this morning from all the fires burning in the Coast Range. Very quiet up here. It was remarkable how cold it got as the eclipse progressed, compounded by a significant breeze that kicked up during the peak; I still don't understand the mechanics behind the breeze.

I may have missed it if you said, but your brother and you look like twins, it's good to be with family.

Doug is six years older than me; I sometimes call him "Dad" when we're out and about in public - great fun! :D

Roger that! It was Doug who introduced me to motorcycling, back when I was just a pup. He had a Tote-Gote (anybody remember those?), and I pestered him relentlessly to let me ride it. Unfortunately, the only instruction I remembered was how to make it go - I totally forgot how to make it stop. I ended up crashing, but I was hooked for life. :ricky

It's ironic that during our entire adult lives we never rode together until just a few years ago, when he got his Road King. He lives in the Pacific Northwest so we don't hook up as often as we'd like, which made our week hanging out together in Oregon all the more special.

We spent 18 days on the road getting back to Virginia from Oregon. I didn't get in as much riding on the return trip as I would've liked, but some is always better than none. This mural is in the game room at the KOA in Boise, Idaho:

We spent two very enjoyable days at the American Legion RV park in Wilber, Nebraska. Beautiful facility, quiet and well maintained.

    You'd think so! :D

This was at the McGreer Camper Park in Big Springs, Nebraska. It's a 10,000-acre working farm that's been in the McGreer Family since the mid-1800's. They have a modest, yet fully adequate, RV park out in their front yard. The place isn't fancy, but has all the basics for an overnight stop, and is right across the interstate (I-80) from a Flying J truck stop.

About the best money we've spent so far is joining Passport America - you get 50% off at participating RV parks. There are usually some park-specific exclusions to work around, but for humping across the country on the (relative) cheap, this is a great way to go. The Passport America rate here at McGreer's is $15.00/night for full hook-up, which is a screamin' deal.

I'm guessing the good folks from Texas only rented one space, and paid the PA rate of $15 for their site. Savvy; leaves more money left over for toys! :thumb

That's some savvy shopping, I'm paying $20 for a tent site with no hookups at Phillpott this weekend.
