Yep. AimExpo was created and timed with hopes of enticing mfg to do global release there vs EICMA. It's also an industry trade show vs IMS which is just a consumer show for the most part.

I don't like the fact that Yamaha is going to sell the US this XSR 700 before a super neato Tenere 700... WTH ?

I actually wish they'd brought the XSR700 over before the XSR900.

XSR900 is a lot higher quality parts and complete bike. The 700 series is your entry level bargain basement bike.

Thank you for clarifying. I mixed AimExpo and IMS up... what's new...

Yes, thank you for clarifying. I mixed them up (AimExpo and IMS, IMS being the one Eakins brought up). I wanted to say it will likely NOT be shown at AimEXPO. But of course, there are hopes for it to be shown at IMS since it is after EICMA.

I'm not sure what I'm more surprised about right now - that you think the FZ07 is an entry level bike or that you think it's bargain basement. That thing is one of the best deals going in the moto world right now.

I talked to a regional mngr from Yamaha today.

He was tightlipped but then said not to expect the T-7 in the USA until 2019. Europe in 2018.

He also said to expect alot of changes to existing bike models in 2018, and another surprise that nobody see's coming.

Hmmmmm now yamaha does not have a big sporty I4 engine, do they?
So maybe a yamabusa is on the lineup, or even a decent fjr1300 upgrade.

A more exciting engine and different looks. 17 years or so and still is the same bike.

I think they're on the 4 gen. So changes have been made. Inline high powered 4 cyl engine on a large bike can only be so exciting. Have you redlined an FJR in the first three gears...

I ride a 1st gen hayabusa and I redline it in the first 3 gears on a regular basis. The fjr runs out of steam too soon for my taste. It is not the lack of power that much, as it is the reluctance to rev high enough. I dislike that on a I4 engine. Also, the shaft drive makes rear end feel weird.
An fjr with an engine like that of the busa, chain drive, minus a few kilos and with sharper looks would be the ideal SPORT-touring bike for me.

Very few in this segment would own a chain driven sport tourer..

I owned an FJR, and may own another. Would't consider it, if it were chain driven.

I'll now escape from the threadjack...

:hmmmmm Humm.... Redline on a 'busa in first gear is about 93 or so mph? 2nd. gear? and then 3rd.?? So you regulary see in excess of 150mph? or 241.4km/h??

Your either a Super Rider or :topes

Haha...I am an ok rider nothing special in skills. But....to go fast on a straight line requires no skills and the busa makes it very easy. It is even easier since around where I live traffic cameras are scarce ;)
