Thanks. Training is going really well. Im in the best shape i have been in, in years and the steering dampener has helped add 4 km/h to my time so far.
Never realized how much logistics and planning goes into running a race. It's been a learning experience for sure.

How about you guys? How goes the training?

Carried a pinched nerve in my left shoulder from Xmas up until a week ago, so training has been pretty poor - couldn't do much physically so stacked on a bit of weight again. Been counteracting this by going onto my pre-race Paleolithic diet the past couple of months, with slight lapses whenever Sequent and I head to the pub for a team meeting :kbasa. Been doing a bit of kayaking on an irregular basis - up to about a 6 kilometre round trip whenever I get home with enough time before sunset. Will retire the Tenere this week, to start the rally prep and engine top-end rebuild, so dust off the push-bike and get into a daily 14km commute to and from work, to help weight loss, leg strength and aerobic fitness. Did the same before the Safari last year and felt as fit as a mallee bull after only a month. Will try and keep this routine (if your could call it that) up over winter - I'd like to drop back down to about 84 kilos by Safari. Will dust off the enduro bike over winter and get in some actual riding as well, but can't see me riding before Condo somehow. Not a great situation, but it's a path that works for me (again, I hope).

    Trev/Rich/Kipo,

I've got a 60th B-Day to attend along the track Sat night, but I may just have to drag my arse down to Finke Sunday to say G'day over a few bevies. Anyone thought about somehow getting hot pack Schnitzels out to Finke? Possibly sort something out with Kulgra Pub? I'll most likely be wandering around scrutineering Fri night as well.

    Cheers Trev,

Might be a case of how my head is feeling on Sunday and what my roster looks like for the week following. But I'm thinking it's been a few years since I've frozen my arse off in the Finke River, so hopefully I'll make it.

Hi guys, my names Billy. I'm a newby to ADVrider. I'm currently riding my DR650 around Oz (in tassie at the moment) Wondering if there is anyone riding from Adelaide or surrounds to the Finke race this year? Was just going to do it solo but would sick if there were a few bikes doing the run!
    Cheers

3 of us should be heading up from Adelaide probably on the 4th. Will be doing a bit of exploring on the way up though. My mind wanders too much after about 500ks on the black top! :huh

My father inlaw and I will be riding up from adelaide as well probably on the 3rd or 4th, only issue is I need to sign in at alice on the evening of the 6th.

Is it worth starting another thread just for those doing adelaide and up or are people happy to keep it here?

Rain has the first 30 K of the track torn up pretty bad. Hoping for 56 days of dry weather :D
