Just a little reminder that FJR Tech Day VIII is this Saturday. We're gonna be in Owosso, MI, at BustanutJoker's place.

For more info, check out the threads over on FJRforum.com or fjriders.com

If you are in the area and are so inclined, feel free to swing by, even if you don't have anything you wanna do to your bike or are just curious about FJRs.

just a couple days ago my new to me '03 had a shield failure. It basically got stuck on the worm gear (I think due to slop in multiple fasteners) and wouldn't move manually, and when key was shut off the nuetral light stayed on (battery tender kept it from killing the battery). I ended up taking it apart and putting back together, works great now. Anyone reading this with some miles on your bike...I suggest doing the same and using blue loctite on all fasteners before the motor gets damaged (have you priced these things?!?) <!-- / message -->

re:stock seat- I find it passable (did a 400 mile day of mostly twisties on Sunday); only thing sore was my hands. I'm sure a Sargent or something would be better, but the stocker is no torture rack.

    Re: Clunk into first-

Go ride an Airhead BMW. You won't notice the FJR tranny after that.

I think the stock seat is absolutely horrible! It might be tied with my old Bandit 1250 for worst seat I've ever experienced on a motorcycle.

My butt was quite relieved when I bought a Sargent. However, my wife can't stand the Sargent and uses the stock seat when she rides the FJR.

I'll have to stare at her butt more often to see if I can figure out why.

I'm pretty spoiled by the Mayer seat I spent nearly 10 years on with my 1150..... So certainly looking around for somethin

Sent from my phone, because I'm probably bored somewhere

OH, there WAS LOTS of twisties!!
BanjoBoy took me on a serious run down HIGHLY rated Hyw 162 from Quincy to Oroville. However, he was WAY in front of me most of the day, as he was RAILIN" thru the turns with very little braking.
Then back up HWY 70 along Feather river, very fast!
Thx for the riding lesson BanjoBoy!

    oh you're from Florida?

    :scratch

thats a road Ive always wanted to try.
In my mind I give the FJR a hard time because it never really seems to be cornering very fast until I look down at the speedo and go holy crap.... maybe I should slow down a bit. its pretty deceptively quick

I personally found the stock FJR seat to be one of the worst I've ever ridden on, and I'd say I get some pretty good seat time :).
